Lakefront Bungalow, Boat & Bunkhouse in the Woods
Lakefront Bungalow, Boat & Bunkhouse in the Woods
Description
The Loon's Nest is a unique lakefront bungalow & separate bunkhouse. It comes with 22' pontoon boat (special license not needed if over 30), 2 kayaks, and private dock plus swim platform w/ladder from May through October, weather permitting. The property is spread over 2 large lots with expansive views of Lake Wabasis; a sandy beach at the shoreline; and a backyard surrounded by woodlands for complete privacy. Plus an adjacent vernal pond that provides an abundance of nature (sights & sounds). The space Wabasis is the largest lake in Kent County with 418 acres of primarily undeveloped, protected wetlands that are surrounded by rolling hills and dense woodlands. It's an all-sports lake that's highly popular for its scenic views and year-round fishing. The Loon's Nest bungalow has been completely renovated. And several upgrades were also made to make guests comfortable in all seasons, including: * Central heating & air conditioning systems * Appliances (including dishwasher, full-sized washer & dryer) * High-speed WiFi & entertainment streaming services * Back-up power generator (auto-activates to run everything) * Water filtration & softener systems * Doorless walk-in shower with Italian tile The BUNGALOW SLEEPS 4 PEOPLE in 2 bedrooms. Master has queen bed, dresser & 2 closets. Small, 2nd bedroom has twin bunk beds, dresser & closet. The backyard BUNKHOUSE SLEEPS 3 MORE PEOPLE with: * Queen bed * Twin loft (w/ladder and safety railing) * 2 closets & small chest of drawers * Work and/or gaming table w/4 chairs * Upholstered arm & rocking chairs * Apartment-sized refrigerator & freezer * Coffee & tea bar * Small fireplace with electric heat insert The Bunkhouse is situated approximately 100' behind the bungalow. However, the BUNKHOUSE DOES NOT HAVE A BATHROOM, AC or furnace. And while it's always available for guest use, it's most comfortable April through December (weather permitting). For larger groups, we can bundle The Loon's Nest w/our other lakefront cottage that's only 3 doors away. It accommodates 6 PEOPLE & includes its own pontoon, 2 kayaks, private dock and beach. Search AirBnb for 'Wood Duck Cabin' in Greenville. (And ask us about a bundled discount?) The Loon's Nest is equipped w/premium features and is well-stocked with amenities to help guests relax and feel right at home from the moment they arrive. The open floor plan has wide sight lines, including 12 front-facing windows with unobstructed, panoramic views of Lake Wabasis. The interior design is a contemporary take on mid-century modern: simple silhouette w/clean lines & neutral color palette. This understated style creates a spacious and relaxed setting. All furnishings are high-end and include authentic mid-century pieces, original artwork & decorative artifacts (many crafted by Michigan artists). There are 4 outdoor sitting/dining areas located around the large, double-lot property. Each spot offers a unique view of water, sky and nature. 1) Adjacent to bungalow is partially shaded side patio facing the lake with: * Cedar picnic table, umbrella top & 4 arm chairs * 2 swivel chairs & end table * Gas BBQ grill (we provide propane) 2) On bungalow's other side is fully shaded, balcony-sized deck w/2 chairs overlooking a vernal pond filled w/wildlife year-round. 3) At rear edge of pond (near bunkhouse) there are: * Cast iron pub table w/4 bar stool chairs * 2 hammocks * 2 outdoor chaise lounge chairs & end tables * Campfire ring with 6 stump stools 4) Private beach on the Wabasis shoreline has: * Another picnic table * Another BBQ grill (this one is charcoal-burning) * Beverage cart w/ice chest * 2 lounge chairs & 2 swivel arm chairs * Bonfire table * Floating dock w/swim platform and bench * Pontoon boat, 2 kayaks The fun at Lake Wabasis doesn't end on Labor Day. The Loon's Nest is a 4-season vacation destination. Wintertime is picturesque, like a Currier & Ives country snow scene. Our snowfall is typically heavy (65.2" per season) and ideal for sledding & tobogganing on gear we provide. Ice fishing, skating, hockey & cross-country skiing are popular, but bring or rent your equipment. There is also a small downhill ski & snow tubing resort in nearby Cannonsburg. Regardless of season or weather, you'll have several indoor entertainment options, including: * Large screen smart TV * Streamed content from Netflix, Amazon Prime * DVD player & large assortment of DVDs * Jigsaw & crossword puzzles (for beginners, intermediate & advanced puzzlers) * Large collection of family board/card/dice games * Books & magazines for different ages & interests * Backgammon, cribbage, chess, checkers. Bingo & Yahtzee * Dominoes, playing cards & poker chips, Ouija board * Trivia quiz game cards * Toys & other playthings for children (including blocks, doll house & dolls, action hero figures, stuffed animals, kid-puzzles & games, coloring books & crayons) Guest access Everything here is exclusively for our guests' private use. Including outdoor entertainment equipment: * Lawn games (croquet, badminton, horse shoes, wiffle ball toss) * Fishing gear: 2 poles, net, floating fish basket, replacement hooks, bobbers & line Other things to note 1) The private road leading to the Loon's Nest cuts across our property and separates the 2 lots. It's a narrow, dirt road that dead ends shortly beyond the bungalow, so any traffic is minimal & slow moving. 2) Driving the pontoon does not require a special license or special certificate if born before July 1, 1996. But all adult guests & visitors will be required to sign a compliance agreement w/liability waiver. And guests are responsible for any boat gas used during their stay. 3) We are a dog-welcoming vacation rental. The yards are not fenced, however, we do have a backyard zipline and spiral ground stakes for use on the private beach. 4) We supply propane for the gas BBQ grill, however, charcoal for the 2nd grill and firewood for the 2 campfire areas (1 in front yard on the beach; 1 in backyard by the pond) are our guests' responsibility. 5) To enter the backyard bunkhouse, anyone under 16 must have an adult chaperone at all times (day and night) to avoid mis-use that could lead to injury.
