Cervantes Under the Hill Guesthouse is delighted to offer 7 private rooms in a three-story house located in a quiet secure residential neighbourhood. We warmly welcome both international and domestic tourists and are dedicated to making sure guests have a memorable time in Quetzaltenango (Xela). In addition to the numerous hiking options around Xela, the city is also a popular destination for learning Spanish; we would be happy to assist you in getting paired up with an experienced teacher. The space “Chicabal” is a private room with an ensuite bathroom located on the ground floor and detached from the living room and kitchen for added privacy. The room is equipped with ample wardrobe space, a double bed, a study/work desk and lamp for your convenience, as well as a small window to bring in natural light. In the ensuite, there's an electric shower with hot water. If needed, there is a shared bathroom that has a solar-heated shower with extra hot water available for use. Extra blankets are provided to keep you warm during the chilly Xela nights, ensuring a comfortable stay. And for your peace of mind, you'll have your own set of keys for both your bedroom and the front gate. The communal space offers a fully equipped kitchen, living room and patio areas and a terrace with fabulous view of Xela, for your enjoyment. The kitchen is stocked with all the essential appliances you need - stovetop, refrigerator, microwave, toaster, kettle, and rice cooker, along with all the necessary utensils and cookware. Please note there is no working oven. Complimentary tea and coffee are available in the mornings for your convenience. In the living room, you'll find cable TV, an Amazon Fire Stick, an electric keyboard, a guitar, and various books and games for your use and enjoyment. Take in the beautiful sunset from the terrace, which overlooks the city of Xela and provides plenty of tables for reading, working, or studying Spanish. WIFI is available throughout the property. The communal spaces are cleaned daily to ensure a comfortable environment for everyone. The guesthouse is situated in a peaceful and secure private residential cul-de-sac with 24/7 security monitoring. The surrounding streets are quiet and perfect for a morning walk or jog. Nestled against the Cerro de Baul mountain, the guesthouse offers a tranquil setting with great views of both the city and the mountain, while still being conveniently close to the vibrant energy of Parque Central. We are just a 15-minute walk to the town center and 10 minutes to the nearest grocery store, with a larger supermarket only 15 minutes away. Just minutes from the security gate, a 2- minute walk from the guesthouse, you'll find bodegas, fresh produce stands, and handmade tortillas, and a laundry service just 10 minutes away. There's a bus stop at the end of the street for easy access to other parts of the city, including the main bus terminal, shopping centers and markets.
