Floating Moon Cabin on Cortes Bay

This serene private cabin on splendid Cortes Bay offers lovely ocean views and waterfront access. Explore island trails, launch your kayak or paddle board from the bay, or curl up with a good book in this simply designed cabin. A renovated former gallery, it is furnished for a comfortable stay, and features handcrafted details and regional art. An idyllic retreat set among arbutus and manzanita, Floating Moon Cabin invites guests to enjoy a relaxed island pace. The space Designed in the round, with beautiful local fir and cedar throughout, this airy cabin is divided into kitchen, living room, bedroom, bathroom, and ladder accessible tiny loft. Prepare a meal in the compact but well supplied kitchen or on the deck with the bbq. The bathroom has a walk-in shower and- as the cabin site is ecologically sensitive- the toilet is a composting toilet, clean and easy to use (Swedish design Separett). Follow a short, mildly steep trail to the shore. We are located on a rocky bluff at the sunny south end of Cortes Island, about a 20 min drive from the ferry. The bay is home to eagles, song and shore birds, seals and otters, as well as two private yacht clubs, a public boat launch, government dock and regular float plane service. Guest access Parking is at the top of our driveway by our home and garden. Access to the cabin is past the main house, down a scenic but many stepped path toward the ocean. Being in reasonably good shape to make this hike up and down is recommended, as is light, portable luggage. Within walking distance of several trails. A short drive will bring you to Manson's Landing, Hollyhock, Hague Lake, Hank's Beach and many other beautiful areas, stores and public services.
