Cosy 2 bedroom cottage with waterfront access

Relax with the whole family in our peaceful waterfront cottage in Poona. Poona is a delightful small town in the Great Sandy Straight, opposite Fraser Island. Our cottage is an ideal place to unplug and unwind from your busy lives - whether you want to boat, fish, swim, kayak or paddleboard at high tide, enjoy crab spotting on the tidal flats at low tide, or simply put your feet up, listen to the birds and read a book all day. By night the star gazing is spectacular by the BBQ and fire pit. The space The cottage is small, but cosy. It easily accommodates up to 4 adults or 2 adults and 3 children. There is an outside fire pit and BBQ area, and a gazebo with large table and chairs lit with solar lighting. Down by the beach there is plenty of shade and usually a nice breeze. The yard is fully fenced to keep your children safe. There are two sheds on our property, that are not available for guest use. There is plenty of space in the large backyard to play with the kids (hockey, T-Ball, cricket and we even have a soccer net!) or just to enjoy the ocean views and the benefit of being waterfront. If you have paddle boards or kayaks, you can launch these at the water behind the property (about a 30m distance). Boats need to be launched from the boat ramp near the caravan park about 200m away. Generally, boats can be launched 2-2.5 hours either side of low tide. There is longer water access in the nearby town of Tuan. ** PLEASE NOTE; The boat ramp is out of action from Sept 8 until mid December. It is being significantly expanded to allow greater access to the bay with a large extension. Council have advised it will be fully operational by "mid December", definitely in time for Xmas holidays. Please bear this in mind when booking Guest access Plenty of parking on site, room for your boat and kayaks within the boundary fence. Other things to note Pets: Pets are not allowed sorry Phones: Unfortunately there is no vodaphone coverage in Poona. Optus and Telstra have full service. We have no Wi-Fi in the property so you will need to hot spot for internet connection. We have a series of movies on the hard-drive to watch on TV. Food: There is a cafe and general store selling fish and chip type meals, and you can buy basic food supplies at the cafe or at the Caravan Park. The Caravan Park now offers food in the evening as well. All other supplies need to be brought with you. Towels We don't provide beach or bath towels. We do supply bed linen. Petrol: There are no petrol stations in Poona. Please fill up on route! Boating: Boating in Poona is for fishing and sightseeing. The boat ramp is less than 200m from our property. It is a go-slow marine zone within the bay, so not suitable for skiing/tubing unless you go further out into the ocean. Kayaks can be launched from directly behind the cottage. Crabbing: If you enjoy catching mud-crabs, we have stored an extra cooking pot in the laundry cupboard. We don't have a lot of space inside for extra pots and pans so this is here for guests who enjoy crabbing. BBQ: there is a spare gas cylinder in the laundry. Please let us know if you change it over during your stay so we can ensure we top it up. Firewood: there is nowhere to buy firewood in town, so please bring this with you if you wish to enjoy a fire
