Description
Egret Cottage on the Albemarle Sound is a rural, quiet retreat in a serene setting. It’s a great escape for paddlers, writers, photographers, artists—you. The only sounds are the waves, the wind, and the birds. The Albemarle Sound is at your doorstep and you’re just a short drive to the Outer Banks beaches. We’re located off one of the main thoroughfares to OBX—about 45 miles to Nags Head. The quaint town of Columbia on the Scuppernong River is 5 miles away. The space We are writers who live in Richmond. We rented the cottage on Air B&B, fell in love with the surroundings, and bought it. We spend a week or so each month here and make it available to others when we're in Virginia. The area is full of wildlife, with protected refuges nearby. This place is great for hiking and (of course) fishing. If you're a paddler (as in kayak or canoe) this is a place you want to visit. Paddling trails nearby include the Palmetto-Peartree Preserve, Alligator Wildlife Refuge, and others. Guest access Suffice it to say, parking is not an issue. :) Other things to note We have "no smoking" listed, but smoking on the porch is fine if done safely and with regard to avoiding furniture burns. Just want to keep the inside smoke-free. Electric Vehicle Charging Now Available! We’ve recently installed a NEMA 14-50 outlet, a 240-volt power source compatible with most electric vehicles. Guests can conveniently charge their EVs during their stay. Important: Please bring your own portable EV charger with a NEMA 14-50 plug adapter, as we do not provide a charging cable. Charging times will depend on your vehicle’s specifications, but this outlet typically provides a faster charging experience compared to a standard outlet. If you have questions about compatibility, feel free to reach out!
