Description
Our house is situated on a dirt road surrounded by trees and miles of wood trails, yet we are not far from coastal attractions in Damariscotta (20 min), Boothbay Harbor (30 min) or the Pemaquid Lighthouse (35 min). The Hidden Valley Nature Center is a 15 min drive from our house; it can be accessed on foot or mountain bicycles via trails through the woods -- on skis when there is snow. The open-plan house sleeps six comfortably. Nights are dark and quiet. The space Our house is nestled in the trees, a few miles from the Hidden Valley Nature Center ((URL HIDDEN) The house is fully furnished and has an open floor plan with 2 bedrooms downstairs and a loft with a smart TV and futon (double), which can be used for a 3rd bedroom. There are 2 outbuildings; the 'crib' has a separate screened sleeping porch downstairs, where we sleep, and a yoga studio/storage area upstairs. The other building is a wood-heated sauna. There is a 3-person hot tub between the house and the crib. In the house there are 2 bathrooms (one w/ spa tub), 2 couches, appliances include a washer and dryer, linens and towels; original art is on the walls. Heat is provided by one propane stove in the middle of the house. Kitchen stove and water heater are also run on propane. The house is bright and the sunroom adds passive solar heat in the winter. There are 3 skylights, 3 bicycles (no helmets, though), 1 kayak. Water is from a drilled well and is sweet and cold. Perennial flower beds surround the house. Only non-smokers, please. If you stay there when we are away, the place sleeps 6, max. Guest access Guests can use the whole house, back yard, woods all around, whether we are there or not. Sauna and yoga room can be used only when we are around. Use bikes or kayak at your own risk. During your stay As required - we play it by ear. Other things to note The Sheepscot River is 3 miles down the road, where you'll find the old village of Head Tide, a part of the town of Alna. When the tide is right a canoe or kayak (which is available for use) will take you all the way down to the coast.
