'Bendeni' Authentic Cretan Cottage

An authentic, 400 year-old Cretan house, traditionally restored with much love and care by the owner himself. Rich in history and artifacts, "Bendeni" is a secret hideaway for guests seeking calm and privacy out of the ordinary, yet within easy reach to Chania's historic center, sandy or pebbled beaches, antiquities and attractions. The space The property is nestled in the foothills of Aptera, at walking distance from the village center, beside the olive grove and is surrounded by a tall dry-stone wall offering the necessary calm, privacy and relaxation.  The main gate opens to a stepped, paved pathway leading up to the shaded courtyard and the house. Featuring breathtaking views to the White Mountains, the house offers two bedrooms, one bathroom with shower, a living room and a well-equipped kitchen, combining traditional architecture with modern comfort. Architectural features of the time, such as the wood-burning oven, the built-in clay pots' alcove etc, have all been preserved intact while amenities of today's living have been integrated with respect to the history of the house. The architecture of the building is complemented by old artifacts of everyday life, embroideries and pottery, making your stay a journey through time and history. The outdoor sitting-area is embraced by the tall, dry-stone wall and pots with local herbs and flowers, while opening up the experience to the peaceful surroundings. Other things to note - We clean the house twice a week. However, we provide no services such as maid or breakfast as this is a self-catering private house. - Prospective guests.
