Please read our consistently great reviews! A unique experience - a must for sea and history lovers - the Boathouse is so close to the sea that the waves sometimes touch its windows at high tide. Perfect for wild swimmers - and as we are dog friendly perfect for your four legged friends (a fee applies). And just ten minute coastal stroll to the newly opened Coronation Garden at Hazelbank. It is also completely detached - no noise, lifts or corridors - or shared spaces. The whole space to yourself. We are registered with Tourism NI and all legalities are in place. You get the whole place to yourself as it stands by itself. Unique panoramic views of the Lough, across to Down and Antrim Coast. A view, on the Causeway Costal Route, you can see at no other place in Ireland. See Belfast’s famous cranes as you have breakfast and watch the tides come and go. Watch the cruise ships arrive and leave Belfast Lough, view the mussel trawlers harvesting the Lough. Located directly opposite the old coal pier monument (a small castle) - which was where linen, and rope was traded from up to 1930s. A tidal clock is provided so you catch the low tide and explore the protected ruin & sea wrecks at the Boat house’s ‘front garden.’ The Boat House has a slipway for visitor’s use with seating so you can people watch -with direct access to beach, cycle path and walk. Free car parking is provided but you don’t need a car for this location as the boat house is only ten mins to the city centre with bus/train less than 5 mins walk. Despite its closeness to Belfast city, it is set in a private historical row of Coastguard Cottages and is really quiet - much more restful than a busy hotel or apartment block. It has its own private entrance. No loud neighbours to keep you awake - and as its over 150 years old very little sounds pass through the walls. You have full use of the Boat House. The owners live nearby and are on hand to help as much or as little as required. Each visitor gets advance notice of attractions if required as owner runs a blog on things to do in Belfast. In Northern Ireland there are festivals and celebrations every week. The historical building has kept much of its heritage features but with modern conveniences - Belfast made bed and sprung mattress, shower, oven, microwave and retro fridge freezer, Tv, cable channels (Netflix’s), DVD player, coffee machine. Free unlimited wi-fi is provided throughout so you can plan your day's activities in comfort before you venture out. All approvals are in place with Tourism NI as in Northern Ireland - it is illegal to rent without these approvals - so you are staying in an approved, safe place. The boat house can offer a holiday home for people with mobility issues, as we have wide doors, no steps and shower chair. We have hosted adults who need assistance and a child who used a wheelchair. However, you would need some degree of ability a load bare to use toilet/shower - as there isn’t a turning circle. Please see detail in listing or get in touch. The Boathouse offers visitors a quiet retreat but is still really close to all key attractions - it is a five min train ride from Belfast City Centre, or you could catch the bus right outside the private lane. We are located the Coastal route - an hour’s drive takes you to Portrush - for great golf, the Giant’s Causeway and Rope Bridge. Dogs are welcome to stay at the boat house (provided they aren’t puppies and there’s no more than two.) We offer a little doggie blanket for sandy paws, dog dishes, and there is even a spare dog lead and poop bags! Please note a dog fee applies. We limit numbers for dogs/people so please check with us before bringing dogs so the space works for everyone. We take our environmental responsibilities seriously (it’s hard not to when you are so close to the sea) and so have a number of sustainable measures in place. We opened 5 years ago - please do read our reviews & be assured of a lovely visit in a unique place - you will want to return to again and again. A car is not essential but if you choose to bring one/hire a car - there is a car parking space right beside the Boat House. Guest access All of the boathouse (kitchen, lounge, bedroom, dining and shower/toilet) and slip way - a seating place with stunning sea views are exclusively for guests. Direct access to coastal shore path/walk - all conveniences are available at Boathouse location. Shops/pubs/restaurants are a four minute walk. Other things to note We are very popular so book quickly - read our reviews to find out why! Experience a very special heritage building in great location. This is the only Coastguard Boat House on Belfast that is available for holiday letting. It offers a very special experience - you can enjoy lively Belfast, but sleep in a detached, quiet, warm place and wake up to the sun raising above the sea. A once in a lifetime view ! Travelling the Causeway Coastal route - we are on this and so offer ease of access for all routes. Please note, parking is available but guests planning to park must follow the instructions sent by the owner so you don't block anyone in. There is only parking for a car (there is no room for caravan or large campervan.) if you block our neighbour is we may ask you to pay £100 compensation to the neighbour, especially if you cannot get to work or an appointment - so please follow our guidance. Please note we don’t permit you to charge your car or scouter via our electricity sockets (except for disabled scooters) but there is a rapid charger available 15 mins away. We also can’t facilitate large vehicles doing deliveries (tescos, asda, etc) as we are located on a lane with limited turning. Take away deliveries (deliveroo, just eat ) are fine. The Coastguard Boat House is dog friendly but we can accommodate no more than two dogs. We cannot accommodate two dogs with more than two adults - the boat house is too small. A additional £30 per dog charge is applied per stay. We do not accept restricted breeds of dogs. The owner lives nearby and the Boat House operates a strict no party policy and as it is a heritage building with wooden beams - no flames (smoking or candles) We will arrange to brief you on the boat house when you check in / and there is a guide to everything - so please become familiar with everything and ask questions and if there is an emergency you can of course contact us but otherwise we don’t expect calls or messages between 6-10am ; please do respect Sundays as a quiet, family day. We don’t accept third party bookings - the people staying in boat house must book it for insurance reasons. We only provide bookings for families/ couples at the moment. I’m afraid if you don’t return our keys we will need to charge you £20 for the cost of replacing these. Our check out time is 11am - which is later than most. When possible we offer late and early check in / out. If you leave something behind at the property we will post it back to you with insurance but will expect you to cover the post/courier and an admin fee (of £10) which we apply at our discretion. We won’t accommodate your return to collect it as Most likely other folks will be enjoying the boathouse. If you stay beyond check out we will may need to charge you a fee of £20 per hour as you hold back our cleaners. If you use our electric to charge your electric car we will apply a £100 fine as we don't have insurance or the right electrics for this. Finally, the boat house is behind a row of cottages and we ask you to kindly remain with the boundaries of the boat house (you will have a private space & direct access to the coastal path) - a guide is provided at check in. Our check in window is 4-9pm any later please let us know.
