ON THE BEACH! The Dolphin on the Strand, where the OCEAN IS YOUR BACKYARD! DIRECTLY ON THE BEACH and VIEWS! A haven that NESTLES DIRECTLY on the SANDY SHORES, providing UNINTERRUPTED BEACH ACCESS. We invite up to ten guests to enjoy our family's primary home with an elevator. A perfect retreat for relaxation and seaside dreams. Imagine STEPPING STRAIGHT FROM YOUR DOOR onto the SOFT, WELCOMING SAND, where every sunset is an event, and the SOOTHING RHYTHM of the waves serenade you at The Dolphin! The space Fall special at the beach! It has been our pleasure to offer the Dolphin on the Strand for your vacation travel with an ELEVATOR! The Dolphin can accommodate up to ten people overnight in beautifully furnished rooms and a total of up to 16 for day visitors. The well-equipped gourmet kitchen will make meal prep easy and fun. Kayaks, boards, beach toys, and games offer something for everyone. Take the elevator to any of the home's three floors for easy access! SLEEPING (3rd Floor: 3 Bedrooms; Ground Floor: 1 Bedroom) The romantic third-floor master suite offers a four-poster light-blocking canopy bed (pillow-top Cal-king mattress), a shimmery mosaic-tiled fireplace (gas direct-vent furnace), sitting areas, floor-to-ceiling windows with expansive ocean views, and an intimate beach balcony (our favorite at sunset!). The master bath area features a jet tub for two, a glass-enclosed double shower with adjustable wands, two sinks set in a granite countertop with ample cabinets, an armoire, and a large mirror to reflect the blue ocean. A sauna is also featured. The master sitting area includes a trundle bed that pulls out to form two twin beds! Take a short walk down the hall on the smooth hardwood floor to find two sunny rooms furnished with queen beds, side tables, and a desk. Each bedroom closet has ample space. A full bathroom next door holds plenty of towels above its granite-topped vanity. The glass-enclosed shower has a handheld adjustable spray wand. The ground-floor master bedroom is cozy and quiet. It has a firm Queen-sized bed, side tables, and a set of cabinets. Plantation shutters open to reveal a lovely beach view. A separate full bathroom is five steps away (with a glass-enclosed porcelain-tiled shower-adjustable wand- and a fully stocked linen cabinet). In seconds, you could be out the door and jogging along the strand before your morning “cuppa”. MAKING MEALS (2nd Floor: Kitchen, Dining Room) The beautiful second-floor gourmet kitchen makes mealtime easy! Bring your favorite coffee beans for the burr or blade grinder, then make the brew using our filtered water in the 1-to-14-cup coffee maker, or steep it in a French press. Black and herb teas are also available, as are basic spices. The five-burner cooktop and double ovens accommodate brunches large or small, and the microwave oven stands ready for quick tasks. Appliances include a bread/bagel toaster, Oster blender, Cuisinart food processor, panini press/griddle, crockpot, cake mixer, and handheld blender. It’s quick work to serve a smoothie, a chopped salad, or a crockpot dinner. An 18/8 stainless steel double sink is central to the granite-topped work island containing the silent dishwasher (pods provided), near the side-by-side refrigerator. As for tools, you will find good knives, cookware, and bakeware. Choose from assorted dishes to set the oval table elegantly or casually. It seats eight to ten people. Feel free to select paper plates and plastic forks; we won’t judge. Check the walk-in pantry for basics and disposables. The elevator will bring up your groceries; it transports ice chests and luggage as well as people. If you want to cook outdoors, the gas grill in the garage can be easily wheeled out to the beachside sun deck for a great BBQ. Nearby, the younger ones can dig tunnels and build sand castles while the meat is sizzling. Several beach chairs and cotton mats provide instant seating for an al fresco lunch. REST & RECREATION (2nd Floor: Living & Family Rooms; Ground floor: Garage & Deck) On bright days, enjoy ocean views from the floor-to-ceiling windows, plus a concrete porch (off of the dining area) with direct access through the sliding glass door to the downstairs sun deck, sandy beach, surf, and outdoor hot shower. You could take a nap on one of the couches inside, or catch some rays out on the deck. Keep an eye on the ocean horizon and you may spot a whale fluke. Sample a novel from the glass-front living room bookcase while sipping iced tea, or snuggle on the sectional sofa to enjoy a movie on the 52” widescreen TV or log into your own accounts. The family room has plenty of space to assemble a floor puzzle with the three-year-old or to play board games and munch snacks with the whole gang. We hope you spend several days enjoying the water! The garage contains two surfboards (lessons available), six boogie boards, one single kayak, and two double kayaks with carts. We have two men’s short wetsuits and one woman's thin suit if you need them. (Wetsuit rental available nearby) We launch at Hobie Beach, just beyond the kiddie beach. You could try your ocean kayak balance among the waves of Silver Strand Beach. For those who prefer calm water, kayaking the harbor is fine. Surfing and boogie-boarding are also great, and wave-jumping (no equipment needed) is always popular. For the more pedestrian, nothing beats that sunset stroll with little sandpipers rolling in and out along the shore at day’s end. In the afterglow, throw on a hoodie and bring out the fire ring: place it on the sand, fill it with wood (purchase at the nearby supermarket), and light it. You could gather ‘round to sing (use the guitar) and tell stories. Enjoy hot drinks and a roasted marshmallow or fruit kabob. Don’t miss the night sky! It can be magnificent! Helmets are available for little tykes and two bicycles. On a rare chilly night, the lovely living room fireplace (gas direct-vent furnace) will keep you warm. The home is handicap-friendly exclusively by way of the elevator, making all three levels accessible. CONNECTION If you need to check your email or settle the answer to that Trivia question, the Dolphin has WiFi. GARAGE: Laundry and Off-Street Parking If you want to go home with clean laundry, the ground floor hallway leads to the garage, equipped with a HE washer & gas dryer (unscented laundry pods are provided). One car may fit inside the garage and four more (double-parked) may fit in the driveway. OUT AND ABOUT The Dolphin is centrally located for dining out, shopping, sightseeing, sailing, paddle-boating, island excursions, water sports lessons, evening entertainment, an escape room, and museum trips, to name a few of the things to do. You may choose to immerse yourself in local activities, making memories as you go, or to sit quietly, gazing at the uncluttered horizon and taking in ocean breezes. Whatever your choice, the Dolphin on the Strand awaits. Guest access The entire house is yours! Other things to note Please confirm the quantity of guests. Absolutely no smoking of any kind!!! Quiet hours begin at 9 PM. Please move your conversations at that time inside as our neighbors may need to work in the morning and sound travels easily. A clear identifiable image of yourself is required when a booking occurs as those who host need to know who they are inviting into their homes.
