The Barn

Spend time with family or friends in a barn conversion in Thorverton, a charming village in the heart of Devon. The Barn is the perfect place to unwind with drinks next to the stream or curl up on the sofa in front of the wood burner. Thorverton has two pubs, a quaint village store and a farm shop with cafe. If you are feeling more adventurous, The Barn is well located for days out to the coast, the moors and historic city of Exeter which is a 15 minute drive away. The space The River Barn stands in a large garden next to a stream. It has its own patio with furniture for outdoor dining and a chimenea. You are welcome to use the garden (shared use with owners) and make use of the rope swing and ninja line. We also have a croque set which you are welcome to use on request. The Barn has a roomy porch with underfloor heating and plenty of space for keeping coats, shoes and wellies. Downstairs there is a kitchen with all modern appliances including a gas hob and electric oven, microwave, fridge (with freezer compartment), dishwasher, washing machine, coffee machine and radio. The open plan lounge has a comfy corner sofa, coffee table, TV and wood burner. We have a range of DVDs and board games for you to use. The dining area seats 6. There is also a bathroom with a separate bath and shower and underfloor heating downstairs. Upstairs there are three bedrooms. The master bedroom is triple aspect including a characterful round window. It has a king-sized bed, wardrobe, and TV. The second bedroom also contains a king-sized bed and TV . The third bedroom has bunkbeds and a selection of toys. There is also a toilet upstairs. Thorverton is a pretty village in the Exe Valley within easy reach of the coast, Dartmoor and Exmoor. The historic city of Exeter is a 15 minute drive away. Thorverton has two pubs, both serving food, an independent village store and a farm shop with butchery and cafe. The village also has a lovely millennium green which is perfect for walks or for children to play. There are 2 National Trust properties close by and plenty of local walks. We are also a great location if you like to Cycle, we are also happy to keep your bikes secure in a garage. Guest access The Barn is totally self-contained but if you need anything or have any questions just call or pop into the main house. There is a large garden and lawn area between The Barn and the owners house (across the garden) and this is a shared space that guests are welcome to use. There is parking for 2-3 cars next to The Barn. Other things to note Phone reception in the village is patchy and dependent on provider. A stream flows right next to The Barn, but a garden wall does mean that children can play safely in the garden. The stream can be accessed for paddling from the back of the barn. Unfortnately we cannot not accept any pets including assistance dogs due to an owner allergy.
