A gorgeous Cotswold cottage dating from 1860, offering a romantic sanctuary tucked away in a beautiful hamlet with tiny 850 year old church, yet only 1 mile from a country pub and 2 miles from a traditional village. Surrounded by rolling hills and grazing sheep, this luxurious hideaway promises complete tranquillity with stunning walks on the doorstep. Then unwind by the glowing log burner. Two small/medium well behaved dogs are welcome to run free in our fully enclosed paddock. The space The Old Mill House, a luxury Cotswold hideaway Beautifully furnished, wonderfully cosy and full of historic charm, The Old Mill House is an idyllic romantic retreat in the heart of the Cotswolds. Dating back to 1860, this enchanting cottage combines original character with thoughtful modern comforts, creating a peaceful sanctuary for two. Surrounded by rolling countryside, grazing sheep and beautiful walks, it's the perfect place to escape, unwind and enjoy the slower pace of country life. The Sitting Room Step inside to discover a beautifully restored original flagstone floor, exposed stone walls and traditional lime plaster, all adding to the cottage's timeless character. Sink into the comfortable sofa or armchair and enjoy the warmth of the wood-burning stove. Soft table lighting creates a wonderfully inviting atmosphere for cosy evenings in. Radiators provide additional warmth throughout the cottage, while a Smart TV is available for catching up on your favourite programmes. There are also books and board games for those cosy nights by the fire. The Bedroom Upstairs, a wonderfully comfortable king-size bed with a Sleepsoul Cloud mattress and luxurious bedding promises a restful night's sleep. Bedside tables, a small wardrobe and a blackout blind provide everything needed for a comfortable stay. With no streetlights and little to disturb the peace beyond birdsong, the occasional owl and sheep in the surrounding fields, nights here are beautifully tranquil. The Kitchen The thoughtfully equipped kitchen has everything you need, whether preparing a leisurely breakfast or enjoying a romantic supper for two. Facilities include: - Induction hob and oven - Microwave and dishwasher - Retro-style Smeg fridge-freezer - Nespresso coffee machine and toaster - Crockery, cutlery, water and wine glasses - Dining table for two - Iron and tabletop ironing board You'll also find a selection of tea, Nespresso coffee pods, jams, sugar, salt, pepper and cooking oil. The Shower Room The downstairs shower room features a spacious walk-in shower cubicle with an electric shower, vanity unit, toilet, wall mirror and heated towel radiator. Soft towels and natural toiletries are provided for your stay. Our toiletries are thoughtfully refilled to reduce unnecessary plastic waste. A Warm Welcome A complimentary welcome basket awaits your arrival, usually including a selection of bread, milk, butter, eggs and biscuits — a little something to help you settle in after your journey. During the winter months, we also provide one full basket of logs, kindling, firelighters and matches for your first cosy evenings beside the wood burner. Additional logs can be purchased locally. The Paddock Outside, a generously sized, fully enclosed paddock offers a wonderful place to enjoy the fresh Cotswold air. Relax with your morning coffee, enjoy a glass of wine as the evening draws in or gather around the firepit during the cooler months. Garden furniture is provided, and the grounds also include our vegetable garden and fruit trees. The paddock is accessed through a small gate beside the cottage rather than directly from the cottage door. Dogs are especially welcome, with plenty of enclosed space to run freely and explore. Beautiful Walks From the Doorstep Some of the Cotswolds' most beautiful countryside is waiting to be discovered right outside your door. The Winchcombe Way can be accessed through a gate at the bottom of the paddock, offering wonderful walking opportunities through the surrounding landscape. Please note that this route includes several stiles. Alternatively, take the path up the hill beside the main house for spectacular countryside views along a stile-free route. The charming town of Winchcombe is approximately two miles away, where you'll find a Co-op supermarket, local independent shops and wonderful pubs and cafes. A traditional country pub, The Royal Oak, is just one mile from the cottage, and has the added attraction of the historic steam railway running through the pub garden. Most pubs and restaurants in the surrounding area warmly welcome dogs. Your Four-Legged Companions We welcome up to two well-behaved small or medium-sized dogs and they can enjoy the freedom of our fully enclosed paddock. To help us keep the cottage beautiful for everyone, we kindly ask that dogs stay off the furniture and bed, muddy paws are dried before coming inside, and owners clean up after their pets in the grounds. A Muddy Paw pet washer and towel is provided for your convenience. We also have two friendly Bedlington terriers, Ruby and Layla, who are always delighted to meet new friends if your dogs like to play. Please note that we are unable to accommodate cats. A Few Things to Know The Old Mill House is a historic cottage, and its original features include some uneven floors and stairs, which are part of its authentic character. The cottage is not suitable for mobile children, although non-mobile infants are welcome. For your comfort and convenience, we provide free off-road parking, an EV charging point (£10 overnight charge) and superfast Gigaclear broadband. Safety equipment includes two smoke alarms, a carbon monoxide alarm, a fire extinguisher, a fire blanket and a first-aid kit. --- **The Old Mill House is more than somewhere to stay. It's a little Cotswold sanctuary where historic charm, thoughtful comforts and the beauty of the countryside come together.** Guest access The Old Mill House enjoys a wonderfully peaceful setting in a tiny hamlet surrounded by rolling hills, beautiful countryside and some of the Cotswolds' most scenic walks. A car is needed to get here and there is a parking space beside the cottage. For guests travelling by electric vehicle, a Type 2 EV charger with charging cable is available at £10 per overnight charge. We live next door and are generally on hand should you need anything during your visit but we leave you alone to enjoy the tranquillity of your stay. Although a car is recommended for reaching the cottage and exploring the wider area, if walking is your passion, you can simply step outside and discover the countryside on your doorstep. The Winchcombe Way is accessible directly from our paddock, offering beautiful walks through the surrounding hills. Just over two miles away lies the historic Saxon town of Winchcombe, which can also be reached on foot across the hills. This charming Cotswold town offers independent shops, traditional pubs, restaurants, a butcher, and a fabulous bakery. The Old Mill House is also perfectly placed for exploring some of the Cotswolds' most picturesque destinations, including Broadway, Bourton-on-the-Water, Stow-on-the-Wold and Moreton-in-Marsh. The elegant Regency town of Cheltenham is just nine miles away, renowned for its beautiful architecture, excellent shopping and wonderful restaurants. For those visiting local events, Cheltenham Racecourse is approximately five miles away, while the famous Prescott Hill Climb is just a four-minute drive. Country Pubs & Dining The area is blessed with wonderful country pubs and restaurants, most of which welcome dogs. Our local is The Royal Oak in Gretton, just over a mile away, offering excellent food in a lovely countryside setting. If you're lucky, you might even catch a glimpse of a heritage steam train passing by. In Winchcombe, The Lion and The White Hart are both excellent choices for a relaxed lunch or evening meal. We're always happy to share our personal recommendations for places to eat, explore and discover. "The perfect balance of peaceful seclusion and easy access to everything that makes the Cotswolds so special" Other things to note DOGS We love dogs and want to welcome up to 2 small/medium well behaved dogs to the cottage (or enquire). However we want to ensure that it remains beautiful for all our guests. Our fully enclosed paddock is great for letting dogs off the lead for a run. Note- the paddock is around the side of the cottage through a small gate, the cottage door doesn't open directly on to it - dogs are not allowed on beds or furniture - muddy dogs need to be washed off, we provide a Muddy Paw pet washer and a dog towel. Please do not wash your dog in the shower - no dogs to be left in the cottage or garden if guests are out. - any damage or additional laundry/cleaning will sadly have to be charged for - all dog mess to be cleared up, especially in the paddock as we have a robot lawnmower. We want to offer luxury accommodation for dog owners and appreciate your acceptance of these rules on booking. Thank you.
