Cottage in Mullion
Description
Nestled in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Chough Cottage offers a prime location to explore the Lizard Peninsular – arguably Cornwall’s most polished gem. Whether visiting dramatic Kynance Cove (4 miles), basking on Kennack Sands beach (2.5 miles), or taking to the surf at Poldhu Cove (4 miles) there’re a host of fun activities & stunning scenery right on the doorstep. Comfortable & relaxing, the cottage’s cosy feel is perfect for returning home to – just beware never wanting to leave! The space Once upon a time, Chough Cottage served as one of the many barns belonging to Trelugga Farmhouse. It is set within a property of several acres, comprising of a large paddock, apple orchard, flower-meadow, nature-pond, vegetable gardens, and a host of lawns! You have full run of the entire cottage, complete with a well-equipped kitchen; utility room with washing machine; downstairs bathroom with a walk-in shower (oh yes it’s rather fab!); adjoining twin bedroom with french window access to the paddock; a gorgeous sunroom perfect for morning coffees; upstairs living room with a comfy sofa and sofa-bed, small TV, Wi-Fi and a record player; upstairs master bedroom, boasting a king-sized bed and en suite bathtub bathroom. The living room’s sofa-bed can allow for two extra individuals to stay (we recommend this for children rather than additional adults), bringing our total capacity to 6. We have a newly installed Type 2, 7kW Zappi Electric Vehicle charger. For stays of 3-nights or more, charging your EV is free! Please note: due to the rural location, our “broadband” is not incredibly fast. You can stream Netflix etc. on a single device, but we do not recommend it for heavy usage! The router is upstairs in the living room, with Wi-Fi covering the entire interior of the property. Guest access See further down for detailed instructions on exactly how to find us! Upon arrival, we will let you in and welcome you to the cottage. During your stay you have full use of the orchard and aligning lawn, and can also use the paddock. There is a wooden arbour to one side which is all yours too, an ideal reading spot on sunny mornings. Please note, however, that use of the paddock is not exclusive to you; furthermore, it is not closed off from the surrounding property. If you wish to allow dogs/children into it, please inform us first. We ask that dogs only go into it when supervised or securely tethered. We have a newly installed Zappi Electric Vehicle charger in the cottage car park. For stays of 3-nights or more, charging your vehicle is free! Other things to note 1. It remains your responsibility to monitor your dogs throughout your stay. Without prior consent, please do not leave dogs unattended inside the cottage, nor leave them alone in any space outdoors. (If for some reason it is imperative to leave your dogs for significant periods of time, please contact me first; it might be possible for them to be cared for in your absence, or I can recommend a kennels.) Please note that, despite being enclosed, it is not impossible for dogs to escape the compound. We are surrounded by extensive farmland, so please keep a close eye on your pet throughout your stay to ensure no searches are warranted! 2. There is a wildlife-pond as part of the property. It is tucked away at the extreme far end of the paddock, but is NOT fenced off. Although shallow, it could present a hazard, and we urge you to be careful when letting dogs/children wander further afield. 3. Please inform me before allowing dogs/children into the paddock, and bear in mind that it is not closed off from the rest of the property / the surrounding countryside, nor do you have exclusive use of it during your stay. 4. There are currently two dogs who live at Trelugga, the adjoining property — Max, a little dachshund, and Gaia, a rescue dog from Spain. They’re both absolute sweeties but do have territorial tendencies! As a result, they tend to bark at newly arrived guests, and are very likely to be the first to greet you. Please do not be alarmed, as they will immediately warm to you after a good sniff. Throughout your stay, please be aware that our dogs might occasionally start clamouring (for parcel deliveries etc.), though Chough Cottage is far enough removed to mean that you’re extremely unlikely to be disturbed. When you first arrive, you might encounter one of the pups on the driveway — don’t worry about running them over! Simply drive forward slowly, and they will back off. If you have any concerns/further questions, please get in touch. 5. There are no blackout-blinds in the cottage. It’s a very secluded place, however, and there are normal curtains for privacy. Bear in mind that (during the summer especially) it does get light early in the morning. If you’re a very light sleeper, I recommend you bring a blindfold! (Due to hygiene restrictions I do not currently provide any.) 6. We are in a rural setting with extensive flower meadows/natural ecosystems around and about. Despite my intensive cleaning, this does mean there’s a chance of moths, butterflies, wasps, bees, flies, ants and spiders paying the occasional visit during your stay. Please do let me know if you require any assistance. (Also keep an eye out for foxes, badgers, hedgehogs, weasels and stoats in the garden!)
