Peaceful River Retreat, Paddle to Whitefish Chain

Wake to river mist and birdsong at River Retreat: 450 feet of Pine River frontage, 2 secluded acres of mature Minnesota woodland, no neighbors on three sides. Herons work the shallows, eagles circle overhead, turtles sun on the banks. Dozens of bird species nest on the property. Swim and fish off the private dock, or take one of 6 kayaks out to explore the Pine River and paddle to the Whitefish Chain. Bike or snowmobile the Paul Bunyan Trail or day-trip to Nisswa and Pequot Lakes. Dogs welcome. The space 3 bedrooms, 5 beds, 2 baths, sleeps 10.Main floor: king bedroom with memory foam mattress, full bath, and a full kitchen stocked for real cooking. Upper floor: two bedrooms each with two queen memory foam beds and a 3/4 bath. Step onto the private dock at first light and you’re immersed in riparian woodland alive with herons, a beaver across the river, and a cacophony of songbirds to enjoy right on the property. Hot tip: download Merlin when you arrive to id birds by sound and sight! Six kayaks (4 adult, 2 kid) launch directly from your dock into the Pine River, with paddling access to the Whitefish Chain. The fire pit and gazebo sit in the tree line with a river view. Jack-in-the-Pulpit blooms along the woodland paths in spring. The Paul Bunyan State Trail is nearby: 100+ miles paved for summer biking, groomed for winter snowmobiling. Public boat launches give Whitefish Chain access if you’re bringing your own boat; there’s room on the property to park a camper or trailer. Nisswa and Pequot Lakes are 20 minutes away. Summer: paddling, fishing and swimming off the dock, day-trips to nearby lakes, firefly evenings. Fall: the tree line goes gold and rust. Winter: ice fishing, snowmobiling the Paul Bunyan Trail, coming home to a fire. Spring: migrating warblers by the dozens. Guest access The whole property is yours: 2+ acres, 450 feet of riverfront, wooded on three sides. No shared spaces, very little local traffic. 6 kayaks are stored behind the cabin, no locks, just grab one and go. The private dock is your morning coffee spot, fishing platform, and launch point. The fire pit, gazebo, and yard games are yours all day. Room on the property for a camper or boat trailer, with public Whitefish Chain launches nearby. Note that the screened gazebo gives you the outdoors without the full exposure. It’s kept tidy, but as a true outdoor structure it lives in nature, so a little dust and the odd bug come with the territory Dogs welcome: up to two well-mannered, house-trained friends. They’ve got plenty of space to earn their sleep in. Please clean up after them, keep them off furniture, crate when you’re out, and keep them on the property. Looking for a longer stay? Other things to note The Pine River is kayak for float friendly from the Pine River Dam to the property (about 2.5 hours) and from the property downstream to Upper Whitefish Lake (another 2.5–3 hours); a full day on the water if you want it. Yard games are in the brown shed. Board games and puzzles are inside the cabin for rainy afternoons.
