If you’re looking for more space and amenities than staying in a hotel room, but still want the cleanliness and professionalism you’d expect from one, then you may enjoy staying here. Our spacious 3 room, 1,200 square foot historic (c. 1670) one bedroom apartment for two guests has exposed beams, wide pine floors, full bath, kitchenette, and is just a short walk to Long Sands Beach or a short drive to York Beach, York Harbor, or York Village. The Preble House is one of the oldest houses in America and our guests are welcome to guess its true age. It has been completely restored with a large "barn" addition which is sometimes available as an Airbnb, Comfortable Casual. Our guests have exclusive of the dining room with kitchenette, featuring a fridge, two burner electric cooktop, and microwave and all the cookware and service ware and condiments you'll need. The kitchenette is great for breakfast and lunch but it will not satisfy a gourmet chef! We will make sure the fridge is stocked with milk and waters. The pantry will have cereals and some snacks. (We do not, however, allow the use of the fireplace due to insurance restrictions.) While there’s plenty to do in York and the surrounding area, in case you’re looking to stay in if the weather’s bad, there is a 65" plasma TV with Roku enabled access to Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc. and a smaller TV in the bedroom. Switch to cable for major networks and more. You'll have your own secured wifi. We've got a few beach chairs and towels so you won’t need to pack those bulky items for your trip! There's a bridge at the end of Bayview for a short cut to the ocean and we'll give you our secret spots when high tide forces everyone off the beach. We do charge a pretty hefty cleaning fee, not just because it's a big space to clean after each guest, but also to encourage multiple night stays. And sorry, we are NOT childproofed and unfortunately must decline to host guests with small children unless we are convinced it will be a safe and comfortable stay. The entire apartment is yours to enjoy while you are staying here. Our vacation home is next door but our permanent residence is in Massachusetts. We occasionally rent our side and we carefully screen our guests to make sure they will be good neighbors to you. We're friendly and helpful folks but we expect our guests can enjoy their experience without our intrusion.... we are a mere text message away. But we love to share our knowledge of the area and are most happy to help you plan your itinerary - just ask! Check out the Guidebook to get a quick overview of our favorite places in the area. At low tide, you can turn left and walk the beach. High tide means turning right and hopping on the cliff walk. Stone's Throw, Lobster Cove, and Central are all a short walk and we have lots of info on local dining and attractions in York, Ogunquit, Portsmouth, and Portland. We are hikers and kayakers and can avail you of the best options nearby. There is parking on site for one car only, and the beach is just a short few minute walk away! If you have any questions in advance, don’t hesitate to get in touch with us!
