The Thota

The Thota is a quaint 6 acre coconut grove tucked in along the Mysore Hunsur highway. This self servicing cottage provides the calm, quiet and peace that one often needs to rejuvenate, and is equipped with all basic amenities and facilities. A mere 20 min drive from the famous Mysore Palace, this property is close to the major tourist highlights but is secluded at the same time. So come walk around our Thota and enjoy some fresh tender coconut while you are here. The space The Thota is just a 20 min drive from all the major tourist highlights in Mysore but is also secluded and remote at the same time. Away from the hustle and bustle of the town, Thota is a family friendly peaceful retreat. The caretakers stay on the property and are more than willing to help our guests should there be any questions or concerns. We have a fully equipped kitchen so you can cook your own food. If you would like to step out for your meals and would like recommendations, we would be happy to help. You are welcome to a couple of tender coconuts while at our property. Please ask the caretaker (Krishna Murthy) to cut them for you. We also cultivate vegetables over the monsoon and winter months. In case, you would like to cook during your stay here, please ask Krishna Murthy to pick the vegetables and fruits you’d like. While you are at our farm, we recommend a walk around the property. Although we rarely find snakes (thanks to the peacocks who visit us!), please watch your step while you are walking around. Our little pond is a great place to sit by during the monsoon season. This, however gets dry during the summers and we do not fill it up. Rains are its only source. We would request only outdoor and nature loving people to book a holiday here. We do not provide luxury amenities like an AC, TV or even Wi-Fi for that matter. While you stay with us, you will not hear the noise of traffic, rather the sound of the wind in the coconut trees, bird calls and see beautiful butterflies fluttering around. Our Thota is particularly beautiful during the rains when the grass is the greenest, the smell of the mud the most fragrant and our pond is full with the precious rain water. During the nights, once the light are out, the stars and moon are a sight to behold. Come unwind at our Thota, away from this technology ridden life. Watch the birds, bees and butterflies flutter by as you lie with a book in your hands and let your mind and body recharge. The caretakers will let you in to your studio and hand over one set of the keys to you. Kindly return the key to the caretaker on checkout. There is a 500 metre mud road that you will have to take to arrive at our property. The road is fairly good and even vehicles with low clearance will be able to use the access road. Other things to note 1. We DO NOT provide food at our property. We are more than happy to share a list of restaurants that are nearby. We do have a fully equipped kitchen in case you’d like to cook. 2. We have 2 dogs. They are friendly, but are mainly guard dogs. We request you refrain from petting or going close to them. If you are afraid of dogs, this my not be the right place to spend your vacation. Please note guests are not allowed to bring their own pets to the Thotta. 3. We request you to kindly let us know your time of arrival. Our caretaker needs to be on the property when you arrive, to handover the key. 4. Strictly no extra guests (apart from the number mentioned during booking) or visitors are allowed.
