Arthur's Cottage

Arthur's Cottage is a newly renovated, charming, very comfortable cottage that is light and spacious. It is a 5 minute walk from Powillimount Beach and set on the Arbigland Estate which is in an area of outstanding natural beauty. It is semidetached (Powillimount Cottage is the other side). The cottages can be taken together ( booking as Beachcomber) enabling family gatherings of up to 12 people to stay together. It is in an ideal situation with stunning views all around - the Solway Firth with the mountains of the Lake District to the front and mountainous views to the back. There are three very comfortable en suite bedrooms (two with kingsize beds and one with twin beds so sleeps 6). There is a large open plan living area with a well equipped kitchen, 2 large comfortable sofas and an electric fire (looks like a real one, but none of the hassle) and a dining table and chairs. Double aspect windows to the front and back with window seats. There is a small conservatory which gets all the afternoon and evening sun and a separate utility room with a washing machine etc. The garden is large and enclosed with lovely views, the perfect spot for a BBQ and a sundowner. This area is a well kept secret, there is so much to see and do. There are lovely walks all around, brilliant bird life (between WWT Caerlaverock and RSPB Mersehead), glorious gardens (Threave, Garden of Cosmic Speculation, Arbigland), marvellous mountain biking (near 3 of the 7 Staines), great golf courses (Southerness Championship course is 3 miles away), interesting towns to visit (Castle Douglas and Kircudbright) and charming, unspoilt seaside villages all along the coast (Rockcliffe, Sandyhills, Kippford). There is a great pub in Carsethorn - The Steamboat Inn which is a 10 minute drive away of an hours wander along the beach. There really is something for everyone, or you can just stay put at the cottage and enjoy the cry of the Curlews and chatter of the Oyster Catchers while you take a well earned rest. We have just finished renovating Arthur's Cottage making it into a very comfortable, light and spacious, 3 bedroom cottage each with it's own ensuite bathroom (two bedrooms with kingsize beds and one with twin beds so sleeps 6 in total). Please note that there are steep stairs up to the upstairs bedroom. Guest access You are renting the entire cottage so will have access to all of the cottage and it's garden. Other things to note There are steep steps up to the upstairs bedroom though there is a door at the bottom of the stairs that can be kept shut to stop toddlers going up. Two Pets are welcome with prior agreement from the owner. There is a £25 supplement per pet per stay to pay on arrival please.
