Les Jesuites the Farmhouse Angouleme

In response to the popularity of our gite ..see listing "A Charming House in Cognac country ".. we have now decided to also rent out the Farmhouse which has been our home here for fourteen years . This is the oldest part of the domain built in the 17 C by theJesuits. This was where they farmed and grew the food that supplied their college in Angouleme. The house is fully centrally heated and warm and cosy in winter as well as cool in the summer . The space The rooms are simple and well proportioned and contain many fine original architectural details . All the downstairs room have french windows opening on to the garden. All rooms are well furnished and comfortable with everything you would wish for and expect in a real house you might use for a stay of a week or two. The entrance hall leads both to two sitting rooms with desks sofas pictures carpets and books and a large downstairs douche italien {a walk-in shower and loo with washing machine } There is T.V. both French and English, DVD player with loads and of course Wifi . The farmhouse kitchen with its great hearth is well appointed with a good gas range and all equipment necessary should you care to cook as we both like to. Upstairs there are three bedrooms 1 double, 1 twin/double and and one twin and a bathroom with a roll top bath. The downstairs rooms all lead on to a shady terraces with a barbecue for eating out . Below the terrace is the garden we have made from scratch and is now a wildlife haven full of interesting plants and trees animals birds butterflies, and insects. Guest access Your large garden is surrounded by 8 Hectares of land with lovely country to walk in and uninterrupted views with the city on the skyline 2km away .We also have a flock of donkeys . Other things to note Everything is designed and intended to be in line with our ecological principals which are to walk with as light a footprint on our environment as possible while in no way detracting from the full enjoyment of our guests . So the house was developed with this in mind recycling where we can using sustainable heating systems and growing much of our food, making the most of what nature has provided in this exceptional part of the country .
