The Goataway
Quaint and delightful guesthouse in downtown Madison within walking distance of all the activities and amenities our convivial town has to offer. Perfect for a couple but room for 3 on two large living room sofas. Bessi and Aberforth (aka Abe), the owners goats, live in the backyard seen from the eat-in kitchen. They are super friendly and always up for attention. The space is refreshing, bright and comfortably furnished. You’ll have everything you need for a pleasant stay. Guests can use the front patio space freely. It is a newer garden in progress, shaded in the mornings and evenings. The backyard where Bessi and Abe reside is accessible with the owners permission. Owner lives on the premises and is available for questions, recommendations, etc. Open for interaction but respectful of privacy. Quiet neighborhood and across the street from an elementary school. There is a hubbub of people, cars and buses when school starts and ends but it only lasts 15 minutes or so. It’s quite peaceful otherwise. Madison is a walking town and golf carts are all the rage currently. The Goataway is 1 to 2 blocks from a coffee shop, spa, park, shops and restaurant. There is a winery 3 blocks away as well as the river. The heart of Main Street shopping is only a 4 block walk. There is both bicycle and golf cart rental available in town. Goats can be clever and have occasionally escaped. Luckily we live in a neighborhood of goat herders. With that in mind, the owner would like to give permission and instruction on access to the backyard. Bessi and Abe love people and will certainly enjoy making new acquaintances.
