Please park in front of the wall on the left hand side . I keep the main drive clear for deliveries although sometimes there is a black Peugeot 108 parked on the drive. There is a 50 (relating to 50 New St ) on the dustbins and on the white garage door. The driveway is opposite some flats. The walk round to the front of the house takes 5 mins. If you have any difficulties please call me as my neighbours are very elderly Other things to note This property is wonderful for a romantic stay and ideally placed in the middle of Sandwich to enjoy an evening out. (it takes a few minutes to walk to the Guild Hall and restaurants cafes ) It is ideally placed to explore this historical medieval town. It has a labyrinth of ancient streets with half timbered houses and the title ‘completest medieval town’ . There are art galleries and antique shops . Market day is on Thursday. A modern, new museum has opened at The Guild Hall to highlight the town’s history. The historic market town of Sandwich was named after its saxon origin ‘sandy place’ although the 18th century aristocrat The Fourth Earl of Sandwich John Montagu who reputedly asked his staff to bring him meat between two pieces of bread popularised the name Sandwich. The Guildhall was built in 1579 and it is possible to see the Magna Carta along with the Charter of the Forest dating from 1300. The beautiful and highly distinctive toll bridge and river area with its cafes bars, pubs and restaurants is well worth a visit. This cinque port is situated on the river stour with its human and wildlife communities. There are boat trips to the colony of seals. There are three world class golf courses within in 1 km from Sandwich including Royal St George’s and Princes and a beautiful bay overlooks the courses. It is possible to walk to the sandy beach and the bird watching is superb. Sandwich Bird Observatory offers guided walks and in house talks. There is a water sports centre, sports centres and tennis in the town. The property is 10 miles from the Channel Tunnel to France and 7 miles to Dover port. There are 2 Michelin star restaurants - The Fordwich Arms and Bridge Arms less than 30 mins away and there are 2 good farm shops for provisions. I cannot take guests with children under the age of 5 and no pets.
