'Il Gallo' in the hills of Lucca

The space We are delighted to invite you to our ancient, and completely renovated, "Il Gallo" (the rooster) Bed and Breakfast in the Tuscan hillside above the walled Roman town of Lucca. After a 15 minute drive up from Lucca you will find yourselves surrounded by olive groves with stunning views out over the mountainsides and valleys. Your room After leaving your car in the shade of the olive trees, after just a few steps you will be at the private entrance to your romantic bedroom with lovely views from every window - even from the shower! There is an en-suite bathroom complete with toiletteries and hairdryer. There is a small pantry with a fridge, microwave, kettle and necessities to prepare a picknick and/or aperitivo to be enjoyed on your terrace. Ceiling fan for hot summer nights! Guest access Depending on the weather, breakfast is served on your private terrace in the olive grove, or in our kitchen. There are sun loungers and a sun umbrella on your terrace. From every vantage point there are gorgeous views over the hills and valleys of Lucca, flowers fill the garden surrounding the house, and silvery-green olive trees cover the hillsides above the house. There is also an ancient plunge-pool, which used to be a washing basin. Therefore it is not a full sized swimming pool! (2,5m x 2,5m) Lounging in the pool is a wonderful way to relax on sun-drenched days. There are a number of idyllic spots to relax with a glass of chilled prosecco, settle down with a good book, to sketch or to paint, as well as paths to explore the surrounding hills. It is a true oasis of tranquility! During your stay We are delighted to share suggestions about day-trips, restaurants and things to explore while you are staying with us. You can always drop in for a chat, a cup of tea or a glass of wine, but if you want to be left in peace it is here for the taking! You may also make a reservation to have a home-cooked meal with us (for a small fee). Please let me know in advance if you would like to take a meal. Other things to note For the comfort of all our guests we do not allow pets and we are a NON smoking accommodation. Check-in from 3pm until 6pm, unless agreed upon otherwise. We would appreciate if you let us know your expected time of arrival. Check-out before 11am, but of course we are flexible if we do not get new guests on the day of your depature.
