When staying at our unique resort you will not only experience and see many different types of rentals like treehouses, yurts, earth homes, and cabins but you can explore our wildflower fields, play with our goats and chickens, and observe our honeybee hives. While the seasons and nature provide, take home some honey from our hives, eggs from our coops and fresh maple syrup from ours and other local farms. The space What you can expect When you arrive, you will be greeted by our fields of seasonal wildflowers and witness our honeybee colonies hard at work gathering the nectar to make delicious honey. (Please see operating instructions inside the home before using) Wood fired hot tub It is important to remember this is a wood burning hot tub not a traditional hot tub. Because of this it is a seasonal amenity typically May through October it is open. Unexpected shutdowns and delayed openings can occur for maintenance or weather and are out of our control. These shutdowns can happen without notice. (Please see operating instructions inside the home before using) It is also important to remember the tub will take some work, and results vary greatly from session to session. The tub can take two hours to get to a comfortable temperature to soak. Log usage depends on many factors such as managing proper efficient fire, outside temperatures, volume of water started in the tub, mixing water during heating, and desired soaking temps. While we do provide roughly 15 to 20 pieces of wood which is typical for one soak session based on our personal testing and monitoring, we cannot guarantee temperatures and soak times due to the above listed variations. If you need additional wood, you can visit our onsite farm stand (hours vary and closures happen unannounced so plan ahead and get wood early). Please always monitor fires and extinguish fully with the tub water or from spigot using a bucket or hose when done. Make sure to stir coal while extinguishing to ensure all coals are out. And of course, never leave a fire unattended. Parking for the Watchtower is approximately 50 yards away from the front door. You must park in the designated "Upper parking area" and walk along the path to the watchtower. The woodchip path is for foot traffic only no vehicles. Farm stand We have an independently operated farm stand on property. The stand sources many items from local farmers such as maple syrup, goat milk soap, honey from the bee hives, firewood and much more! The stand operates seasonally and dates of operation are typically April through October. This is also a self serve, honor system farm stand. Pet policy Pet fees apply. We have a 25 lb maximum weight limit. (Lap dogs) Two pets maximum. If your pet is over the weight limit unfortunately we cannot accommodate. Please also review additional pet rules inside the house rules section. Any violation will result in a guest being asked to leave without refund. Driving distances Lake access 5 minutes Million dollar Beach 5 minutes (park fee applies) Shepard’s park beach 5 minutes Dog friendly beach (free) 5 minutes Lake George village 5 minutes Kayak/boat launches/rentals 5 minutes Outlet shopping 10 minutes Breweries 10 minutes yes we have Uber! NYC 3 hours Montreal 2 hours 40 minutes Albany 1 hour Saratoga Springs 35 minutes Lake Placid 1 hour 20 minutes Gore Mountain ski 35 minutes West Mountain ski 20 minutes Whiteface Mountain 1 hour 40 minutes Killington mountain 1 hour 30 minutes Please note we are not located on the lake however we are 5 minutes away from public lake access and beaches. Attention winter guests November through March. It is highly recommended you have a four-wheel drive vehicle. This rental is located on an unpaved road which in winter weather can be unpredictable and cause road challenges. While we do maintain the roads by plowing and salting you may find you will have to park further downhill and walk the remainder of the roadway to access rental during times of poor weather. Please also note the pathways from parking areas to rentals are also not paved and can be icy and slippery. It is highly recommended to wear hiking boots, ice grips on your shoes or snowshoes. Think of the property as a hiking trail in the woods. The Watchtower is located at our resort among other cabins and unique rentals. However, you will have your privacy as there are no shared spaces around your rental. The grill station, fire-pit and wood fired hot tub are private for your use. The rentals are also thoughtfully designed and oriented to allow for maximum privacy. Pool information You will have access to the resort pool which is shared with other guests. Pool is typically open from June through Labor Day but opening and closure dates vary based on current weather conditions and can change without notice. If you are reserving a stay near an opening or closure date it is to be known that the pool may not be open yet due to the above reasons stated above. The pool also has specific operating hours and rules outlined in the house rules section of this listing. The pool may shutdown unexpectedly due to weather or maintenance without warning. We do not provide pool towels so please plan ahead and bring your own. Wi-Fi and cell phone disclaimer Wifi service is shared with all other guests. Please note that we are in the mountains with limited cell towers and cable internet service. When there is a surge of people in the Lake George area Wi-Fi and cell service tend to bog down. Service is best in the early morning before 8 am and after 11 pm as usage is down at these times. This is not just a problem at our resort but all over the area given the terrain and limited cell towers. Weekends are the worst of the times and weekdays have much better service as there are less people in the area fighting for the same service. Cell phone service is poor inside the earth home. Step outside for best service results. Don’t forget, you’re underground!
