Casita for two in the valley at BASECAMP 550

Stay in one of our cozy Casitas (tiny houses) that accommodate two people and are situated among a few others at our eclectic campground in the valley between Ridgway and Ouray Colorado. These tiny homes have a small footprint of 250 square feet but feel much larger due to the high vaulted ceilings. They are stocked with your everyday necessities such as linens, cooking basics and showering facilities. We have cleverly designed them to maximize space and hope you enjoy the loft views! The space *Inquire on half-off passes to Orvis Hot Springs* As we mentioned above, we are a boutique campground that offers lodging options such as canvas tents and tiny homes in addition to the RV sites. We know the campground setting isn’t for everyone, so please read through the following descriptions (especially the DISCLAIMER) carefully to make sure our accommodations will suit your expectations. Camp was originally established in the 1970s by local ranchers. We have worked hard over the past few years to give the campground a second life by bringing outdoor adventure seekers, modern gypsies or the weekend traveler looking to escape the city and immerse themselves in the small mountain town way of life. Our location is conveniently located along Highway 550, AKA The Million Dollar Highway, which will drop you into Ouray or Ridgway within minutes. We boast some pretty wonderful views here at camp so make sure to look us up to see more and get details about what’s happening in our area. The Casita has a kitchen that includes a 24 inch 4-burner convection oven, microwave, sink, coffee maker, toaster, apartment size refrigerator/freezer and small dining setup. Cupboards are stocked with basic dishes, cookware and olive oil, salt and pepper. You’ll find a quaint sitting area set up for two people where you can relax after a day of exploring the area. Also on the main floor is the bathroom which has a toilet and 36 inch shower stall. Please note the ONLY sink in the unit is located in the kitchen. Up in the loft you’ll find the queen bed with comfortable neutral linens and views of Mt. Sneffels. Access to the loft requires navigating up and down the hefty ladder. Please keep that in mind! This space has a propane furnace for heat and on-demand hot water heaters. Seasonally we add air conditioning to the unit. WiFi is pretty good except when inclement weather arises (we are in the mountains after all). Your reservation comes with parking for ONE VEHICLE. please call for questions about extra vehicles and trailers. Other camp amenities you may utilize is the camp grills and gas fire pit, bath house and coin laundry facility. D I S C L A I M E R S Don't forget you're at a campground which becomes very busy during the summer with other guests, RVers, people camping with kids and dogs etc. The weather can cause a random hatching of bugs, hot or cold temps can cause little critters to seek shelter and seeing as we are in rural Colorado next to a cow pasture, the wind can blow just right and you may get a whiff. Road noise from Highway 550 is prevalent at our location. W E A T H E R: We're right at about 7,000 ft of elevation and surrounded by mountains. This makes for intense weather patterns that can switch in a minute, very gusty winds and strong sun rays. Please check the weather for our area ahead of your stay and pack accordingly. Example: If it's February and in the 40's with rain, snow or sun, likely it will be muddy around camp - so please be prepared! Guest access Camp Bath House - Men's/Women's Restrooms each have 2 toilet stalls and 2 shower stalls (quarter operated) Outdoor Camp Kitchen- BBQ Grills and Sink (summer only) Clubhouse- Common gathering space with coffee, tea and refreshments available 8AM - 8PM daily. Other things to note There is parking for only ONE vehicle with this unit. IF you need additional parking for vehicles, RVs or trailers, please make sure to request it ahead of time. Fees may apply based on availability of the campground. Road Noise, especially during the summer months, is noticeable throughout the campground. The showers in the Bath House are quarter operated. Please let us know if you need quarters. $1.00 gets you about a 5 minute shower. Please do not leave food outside or open in your vehicle as we get the occasional curious bear through camp every now and then. Pack layers, sunscreen and have fun!
