The Miramonte Cabin is located just ten minutes away to a fork leading into Sequoia National Park or Kings Canyon National Park. Both parks provide access to the giant trees, caves, various hikes and a selection of fishing sites. The space An awesome feature of the cabin is its amazing western view from the mountains. Sitting comfortably on the deck provides a beautiful arrangement of colors in the setting sun. Set on a mountain slope, the cabin at 4200 ft looking out into the westward terrain. You want peace and quiet: a road less traveled passes the cabin and for the early riser, get a cup of coffee and enjoy yourself on the deck or take a nice walk on a road less traveled (Hogback Rd.) for a scenic view. Fully equipped kitchen and bathroom. When you arrive late and hungry and tired, there is a Belgium waffle maker on the kitchen counter. In the pantry under the stairway, there is waffle mix [THERE IS OIL BUT NEED EGGS] and syrup. In the refrigerator, there are sticks of butter and various condiments. Mixing bowls, spatulas, utensils, and plates are provided in the kitchen drawers and cupboards. And of course the necessary can opener and a crockpot. In addition, on the back porch, is a three burner propane barbecue. I sear various red meat, turning both sides at least twice to get grill marks. Then I put the meat on a cookie sheet over a low fire above the middle burner. The outer burners produce the high indirect heat. Helps to clean for the next Grill Master. [Costco has great tri tip roast. Remember to marinate the roast and other meats over night. Yummy] Less than a mile from the cabin on Hogback and back onto Hwy 245, there is the Pinehurst Lodge Restaurant. It looks the Old West and offers great food including milkshakes, a menu with a wide variety and homemade cheesecake. Be sure to call ahead to double check their hours for that day as they as generally open from 12-9. (559)336-2603 Coffee & tea lovers - there is a Keurig on the counter with coffee pods and creamers in the drawer below. Those of you who brought your favorite coffee beans, just look in the cupboard to the right of the sink. A quick look to find a grinder and a French Press. Also, on the counter, is a electric teapot for the hot water. This is a cozy cabin, well-equipped and well maintained. It is very private and cozy, so perfect for your vacation. You will enjoy sunset and color changes in the sky so beautiful and the night skies are also amazing. The front yard is big enough to play ball, and you should even bring and set up badminton net and play. The cabin provides comfortable beds with comforters, multiple pillows, nice linen and nice towels after a hot shower or enjoying a bubble bath. There is a laundry hamper in the upstairs bathroom and the downstairs closet across from the pantry. (Please put used linen and towels in the hampers at the end of your visit) If you are looking for additional trash bags, on the dining table side of the stove counter, there is a low level storage door containing trash bags. Guest access Guests have access to the entire house Other things to note Coming from the SOUTH - through Bakersfield, map quest the town of Traver then map quest Save Mart for groceries located at 1580 E Manning Ave. Reedley, Ca 93654. You will then connect to and continue east on Hwy 180. Coming from the CENTRAL COAST - you will travel on Hwy 46 and bend north onto Hwy 41. After passing Lemoore, you are looking to turn East on Mtn. View (Ave 416). You will cross Hwy 99 and you can map quest Save Mart for groceries located at 1580 E Manning Ave. Reedley, Ca 93654. You will then connect to and continue east on Hwy 180. (I would travel to Rd 56 then turn North to Save Mart). **For those from SOUTH and CENTRAL COAST here is the short cuts to connect to Hwy 180 to reach the cabin. Starting from Save Mart in Reedley, (make sure you have eggs to make some waffles as all other supplies are provided), head North on Buttonwillow Ave; In 4 miles, make a Right on E American Ave (can't make a Left turn); In 4.5 miles, make a Left on Cove Ave (to the right are numerous radio towers). Cove Ave dead ends in 4 miles into Hwy 180. Turn right to climb up towards the mountains. You will climb four thousand feet on Hwy 180. At four thousand feet, just before the Snowlike Lodge, you will recognize a change in the environment. Be on the look out for the 5 thousand ft marker, for you are 1.3 miles to the turnoff onto Hwy 245. [At the turnoff, it is six miles to the park entry on Hwy 180 and five miles on Hwy 245 to Pinehurst. To finally reach the cabin, after about 4 miles on 245, turn left onto Hogback Rd to the Miramonte Cabin (.2 miles).] Coming from the NORTH, your initial target is Fresno using Hwy 99. Once on 99 in Fresno, you are looking to merge off and onto Hwy 180 heading East to the mountains. IN THE MTNS, groceries are scarce and if you forgot something, you will be glad you stopped. So after leaving Fresno, map quest Walmart, 2761 Jenson Ave. Sanger, CA 93657 for provisions. Your next map quest to set your compass onto the mountains is the School House Tavern at 1018 S Frankwood Ave. From this point, you have a short distance to begin the climb into the mountains, You will climb four thousand feet on Hwy 180. At 4 thousand feet, just before the Snowlike Lodge, you will recognize a change in the environment. Be on the look out for the 5 thousand ft marker, for you are 1.3 miles to the turnoff onto Hwy 245. [At the turnoff, it is six miles to the park entry on Hwy 180 and five miles on Hwy 245 to Pinehurst. To finally reach the cabin, after about 4 miles on 245, turn left onto Hogback Rd to the Miramonte Cabin (.2 miles).] You have ARRIVED - If you are arriving at night, there are solar spotlights on the gateposts shining at the flag and the lock box. (You will receive the passcode the week you are traveling) With the passcode, unlock and remove three colored keys and re-lock the box. The gold key ring will open the gate lock on the right side. The purple key ring opens the cabin entry doors and the blue key ring will open the outside door on the back deck for access to the water heater.
