With stunning vistas over the grazing herds of exotic deer and antelope species and with exclusive use of an electric self-drive buggy to explore the reserve, this hideaway is a truly unique staycation destination. This single storey, fully-accessible detached lodge sleeps eight guests and is positioned with uninterrupted views over the wildlife that roam in the 170 acre reserve. The property has four bedrooms complete with two bathrooms as well as a wet room. Spot a mountain bongo grazing just metres away from the private terrace or sitting room window; or make use of our state-of-the-art bird hide for sundowners overlooking the main lake. With access to electric buggies, you can take your time and enjoy the ever changing expanses of the woodland, savannah and lakes. On arrival you'll be offered a free guided tour of the reserve where you can learn all about the conservation work whilst seeing the water buffalo, white stork and great bustard, and after this access to the reserve is free within pre-agreed hours. Major's Lodge is well located to explore everything north west and north Norfolk offers, but if you want a very special treat, book an alfresco dinner by the Watatunga lakeside in the private barbecue hut by the lake - details available on request. Safety is paramount whilst spending time on the reserve. Before being handed the keys to your electric buggies, you will receive a thorough safety briefing and guided tour of the reserve. The owners request that upon arrival and before visiting the reserve you read and sign the terms of your waiver. Once signed you are welcome to explore the reserve as you wish within the hours discussed and with your guide. Additional Information: Sorry, no pets. Bedding is synthetic and feather. Travel cot available on request. Please bring your own linen. ​For guests requiring a profiling bed, Major's Lodge can accommodate one. It is recommended to use the company Shelden Healthcare. Guest access Accommodation is all on one level: Suitable for people with restricted mobility, with wheelchair access to the front and rear of the lodge and a large wet room fitted with grab-rails and non-slip flooring, wide doorways. Bedrooms one and two are wheelchair accessible. Entrance hall With coat and boot storage. Kitchen With electric double oven and hob, microwave, fridge, freezer and a dishwasher. Cloakroom With a wash basin, WC and washer/dryer Dining room With dining table and seating for eight guests. Sitting room With a large picture window which overlooks the garden and the game reserve, two large comfortable sofas, two armchairs, fireplace with open fire and a Smart television. Sun room With corner seating and patio doors which open onto the private decked terrace. Bedroom one With twin (2'6") zip and link beds (can be made up as a king-size bed on request) and a wash basin (this room is wheelchair accessible). Bedroom two With twin (2'6") zip and link beds (can be made up as a king-size bed on request). Bedroom three With a super-king size bed, fitted wardrobes and wash basin (this room is wheelchair accessible). Bedroom four With a 5' king-size bed, wash basin (this room would be more suited to one adult or children as access is at one side of the bed only). Bathroom With bath and overhead shower, wash basin and WC. Accessible wet room With mains shower, wash basin and WC, extra handrails fitted to the wall and non-slip flooring. Outside: There is a large, fully enclosed garden with deep borders planted to attract butterflies and an abundance of wildlife, this also supplies winter seed for birds. There are stunning views towards the wildlife reserve and a raised decked with seating which leads directly from the lodge, this is wheelchair accessible with a ramp down to the lawn and gate.
