Welcome to Seattle's NPR-featured family-friendly urban farmstay, where fresh flowers greet every guest and kids can meet fuzzy friends! Stroll to the bakery for coffee & pastries, beachcomb along Golden Gardens, treasure-hunt Pike Place Market, brewery-hop Ballard's food paradise, then relax in your adorable, private 2-story guest home with backyard, A/C, full kitchen, BBQ, free parking, cloudlike beds, eco toiletries, baby gear, laundry, playroom, and so much more. We can’t wait to meet you! We're delighted to have you as our guests on Peach Street Farm! You can hear more of our story online thanks to a Marketplace feature that aired April 5, 2023 on NPR. When you stay with us, your space is an entire 2-story carriage-style residential home in the famed "Seattle skinny" architectural format. You'll have a fully fenced backyard plus unfenced front and side-yard area where you can play. We happily invite guests onto "our" side of the farm, where you can meet our animals and explore the gardens. We grow hundreds of cut flowers as well as veggies, fruits, berries, and nuts. Our quail lay adorable, delicious eggs! We love to share the bounty with our guests, who especially enjoy harvesting abundant blueberries and trying quail eggs for breakfast. Peach Street Farm takes its name from our street's original name, which changed when Ballard became part of Seattle in 1907. Peach Street Farm is 5 minutes from Woodland Park Zoo, 10 minutes to beaches (Green Lake or Puget Sound), and 15-20 minutes from the Space Needle, Pike Place Market, the downtown waterfront, sports stadiums, and other major Seattle attractions. Farm guests can walk in any of several directions 7-15 minutes to reach bakeries, coffee shops, restaurants, bars, groceries, shopping, entertainment, bookstores, public library, parks, and a good deal more. Less than 5 minutes walking distance to multiple bus lines. Biking is another very popular choice here! If arranged ahead of time, we may be able to make bicycles available to you (helmets required), or we can let you know our favorite bike rental shops for families. Our central Ballard location has quick access by car (2-15 min) to other fantastic Seattle neighborhoods: Phinney Ridge, Greenwood, Fremont, Greenlake, Wallingford, Queen Anne, Magnolia, South Lake Union, and more. If you bring a car: you’ll have your own driveway with 1 parking space, and additional street parking is free. Your hosts live on the mini-farm where you'll be staying; our house is next door to the guest house. Chances are you will see us outside doing chores or coming and going. Feel free to visit our side of the farm any time the gate is propped open--but please ask before opening any animal enclosures. For guests scheduling longer stays: please note that we may need to access your fenced backyard to water plants. Our urban guest farm is situated in Whittier Heights, a central pocket of Seattle's in-demand Ballard neighborhood, named one of the nation's "coolest hipster neighborhoods" by TripAdvisor. "Overflowing with stylish restaurants, bars, and boutiques, this neighborhood with a maritime history is one of Seattle’s trendiest." - Visit Seattle "This northwestern city makes some of the most creative craft beers around. The best place to try them is in the Ballard Brewery District." - New York Times If you like to avoid getting in the car, you'll love our walkability and bikeability! An easy 2-block walk takes you to Kirke Park, perfect for young kids. Want cafes, bakeries, boutique shopping and award-winning restaurants? A 10-minute walk gets you there. And there's so much more to discover! Your hosts, who live directly next door to the guest house, are born-and-raised Puget Sounders who have lived in Seattle neighborhoods for more than a decade. We can help you with your plans, whether you're looking for brunch reservations, a toy store, superb farmers markets, indie bookshops, the best gelato, brewery tours, a sunset sail, vintage shopping, live music, wine tasting, San Juan Islands getaway ideas, an unforgettable state park on the coast, a ferry-ride day-trip to artsy Vashon Island, or anything else--you name it, or we can happily suggest! We know and love to share this breathtakingly scenic and fun-to-explore corner of the Pacific Northwest. You'll find that our clean, quiet street of residential homes is populated with welcoming, broad-minded neighbors. As hosts, we are honored to be supportive allies with our guests. Is there something else that would make your family's stay more comfortable? Please don't hesitate to ask! We'll do our best to rustle up any additional items that will make your trip easier. BREAKFAST BASKETS: Are you traveling for a special occasion, or expecting to splash down exhausted after a long journey? With advance arrangement and for an additional fee ($15 per adult and $$7.50 for kids 12 and under), we can deliver a beautiful, locally-sourced breakfast basket to your doorstep. We strive to feature the best our neighborhood has to offer! We may be able to provide afternoon charcuterie or other goodies as well—tell us your dream scenario and if we can fulfill it, we will! POLICIES: Please be sure to read our guest rules and make sure you're simpatico with our requirements. This is an urban residential setting with close neighbors whom we deeply respect. We (your hosts) live immediately next door, just a few steps away from the guest house. We have set quiet hours and do not allow smoking/vaping, pets, or gatherings of more than 10 people (no extra guests indoors or out during quiet hours). Please, though, don't hesitate to ask if you have questions or would like us to consider an exception for special circumstances.
