Cottage 7 is a quaint space with two full beds, full bath with shower, A/C, mini-fridge, cable, television, iron/ironing board, hairdryer, coffee pot, microwave. This room does share one adjoining wall with #8 (both have private entrances). All guests will have access to a communal outdoor kitchen area equipped with a grill, a Blackstone griddle, an air fryer, a hot plate, and plenty of seating. Also, the hot tub is no longer available and all shared indoor amenities are currently closed. The space Cottages at The Open Hearth Inn are a rustic but private little base camp for all of your Acadia Adventures. These cabins (9 in total) have been on the property since sometime in the 50s and although they are 'vintage' in nature, they are a comfortable trip back in time ;). Just a mile away from the first picnic area in the park and the welcome centre, this property is the ultimate budget option for a place to stay while you play. While our historic 1820s main house is dearly missed, the heart of the Open Hearth Inn remains stronger than ever. However, you can enjoy the fresh air and mature trees in total tranquility, as there are no construction works or loud noises occurring on the property at this time. Guest access Located on Route 3 at the head of Mount Desert Island, The Open Hearth Inn is 12 miles to Bar Harbor, 9 miles to Acadia National Park, 15 miles to Bass Harbor Head Light, 12 miles to Southwest Harbor, 8 miles to Ellsworth, 35 miles to the Schoodic Peninsula of Acadia National Park, 36 miles to Bangor, 65 miles to Camden and 163 miles to Portland. The Bar Harbor Hancock County Airport is a half-mile up the road. The Open Hearth Inn makes a great home base for day trips around Downeast Maine and the coastal beauties such as Mount Desert Island (MDI). Other things to note Pet Policy: Here at Open Hearth Inn we welcome your four-legged family member. However, we ask you to help us with the following pet rules while staying with us. 1. Please don't leave your pet in the rooms unattended. Why? Because they miss you and from our experience of being professional hosts since the 90's, when they are lonely they howl or bark causing others to lose the quiet enjoyment on the property. Lonely pets also use the bed or other furniture to snuggle on while you are away. This is super tough for our housekeepers to remedy because blankets or comforters need to be washed or replaced, also furnishings can take hours to remove hair from so we can present a clean space for the next guest. Maine is a very pet friendly place and since you brought them on vacation we hope you keep them with you so they can enjoy "Vacation Land" as much as humans do. 2. Please pick up all the poop/excrement they may have. 3. Please have your pup on a leash when enjoying the common areas. 4. Please try to refrain your dog from barking. We have dog treats, extra poo bags and a water bowl in the common room. *There will be an additional cleaning fee charged if your pet makes a mess of the room or the bedding.
