The Cottage at Riverfront Campground

"The Cottage" at Gold River Camp is a full-service, modern campground "cabin" (or more like a tiny home :) that will allow you to take advantage of outdoor adventures while enjoying the luxuries of a cabin. A former Gold & Gem Panning operation on the Second Broad River, this little slice of paradise was once a part of the United States' first gold rush. This boho one-bedroom cottage is everything you need for a family getaway. There is a living room with a small full-size futon and a chair that folds into a cot, a private bedroom and a kitchen with gas stove and small breakfast table. There is little (to NO) cell service (T-Mobile only) so plan accordingly by downloading your favorite shows or podcasts on a tablet, or better yet, plan to have an off-screen getaway, you'll be thankful you did! We do have wifi that is generally very good, but it's Starlink Satellite, so can be spotty based on weather. The futon is full sized, will fit two children comfortably and there is a cordorey chair that folds into a cot. This room is in the same building as two other cabins. There's an adjoining door to the "Guest Suite" - rent both and sleep up to 8. See property map for cabin location. Cabin not located directly on the water, but there is easy access for all guests to the river, which is just steps away! The grounds include plenty of fire pits, a river front beach, pavilion and community gas and propane grills. Pavilion with games, books, microwave and coffee maker. Two propane and two charcoal grills on site. A platform deck overlooking the river. Hammocks, green space, and seating nooks.' Horseshoes We live on-site in the cabin beside the bath house. We won't bother you, but would love to say hello and hear your story if you are out and about. Whether you're just planning on kicking back and enjoying the peaceful rushing river or if you're only looking for a basecamp for your adventures, Marion, NC is a great location on the foothills of Western NC. ' Centrally located to: Lake Lure, Chimney Rock, Black Mountain, Lake James, Linville, and Morganton. And just 40 minutes to Asheville. Within 20-30 minutes there are numerous great activities, including: two easy waterfall hikes, nationally known biking trails, river tubing on the Catawba river, and a handful of winery and brewery stops.
