Loft-level master suite, 2 bedrooms below, futon in the cinema/arcade room, means space for the whole family. Mystic Mountain Lodge sits at over 9,000 feet above sea level in an area of avid astronomy (professional and amateur). The 2400+ square foot cabin is on 2.2 acres at the end of a cul-de-sac with lots of wildlife and no traffic – very private. The warm glow from the pellet stove in the living room (quite capable of heating the whole house) is supplemented by central forced-air (propane) heating. Free Wi-Fi, a cozy reading corner and black-walnut desk (work from home!) in the loft, a home theater, 3 arcade games (12 games each), and board games mean nobody is going to get bored after sundown following long days of exploring the quaint shops on Burro Street and the 90+ hiking trails around Cloudcroft. Whether breakfast on the covered balcony or grilling lunch/dinner in the great outdoors, the wraparound deck will place you right in the deep woods charm and mystery. Nights on the deck will place you under the deep dark expanse of the Milky Way and planets; bring your telescope! You will have use of the entire house except for the garage. My wife and I love communicating with our guests and can be reached via text messages and email, with some delay. Even better, we have local Cloudcroft contacts available to you for emergency response. Still, don't leave us out; we love our guests! You'll be staying in the Ranch Estates. The neighbors have built their homes here to escape the heat, congestion, noise and threats of the city. You will not want to disturb their peace and tranquility with loud music outdoors, open fires, or wandering/hiking/exploring onto their private land. (Mind the signs.) There are more than 80 beautiful trails to explore in the area. You can find maps at the Cloudcroft Chamber of Commerce or the Forest Service on Cox Canyon Hwy (Hwy 130). Fine dining in town can be found at Rebecca's at The Lodge Resort & Spa. (You can golf there, too!) Black Bear Coffee Shop, Mad Jack's Mountaintop Barbecue, Texas Pit Barbeque (soon to be Brother-in-Law's Barbeque), Cloudcroft Brewing Company, and Noisy Water Winery are all great places to dine in town. A word about the roads leading up to Mystic Mountain Lodge: these are well-maintained, unfinished roads that should not require 4-wheel drive vehicles to navigate, except in the presence of (rare) heavy snow/ice. Mind the posted speed limits – usually 20 mph – as driving any faster stirs up too much dust and annoys our neighbors. You also don't want to run into a huge elk up here!
