The Original House at Michigan Stadium
This house was originally located less than two blocks away, inside of Michigan Stadium. In 1926, the University of Michigan acquired the home through eminent domain and moved it to make way for the Big House. With its maize paint, blue trim, close proximity and historical significance to the University of Michigan (former tenant Woody Malloy, who won the national golf championship for U-M in 1935, was born here), you won't find a location with more school spirit anywhere in Ann Arbor. Our house made way for the Big House. What could be more Michigan than that? This single family home, built in 1905, was originally located two blocks away, on the site where Michigan Stadium now sits (in what's now Section 1 in the east stands). In 1926, it was moved to its current location so Michigan Stadium could be built. In 2008 the house was remodeled and modernized with an open floor plan, new kitchen and appliances, baths, gas fireplace, and entertainment system. The four upstairs bedrooms will sleep up to eight guests, but we recommend six (the rooms are most comfortable with two couples and two singles). Parking is limited to four vehicles in the driveway, and parking is not allowed on the yards. Guests must comply with Ann Arbor's 10 pm noise ordinance, which means no outdoor parties between 10 pm and 7 am. The main floor consists of a large open kitchen, family room, and half bath. In addition, there are four upstairs bedrooms (the master bedroom has its own bathroom with shower), and the other guests have access to a full size shared bathroom with tub and shower. I am available by phone, text, or email. This home is located in a residential neighborhood between Michigan Stadium and Allmendinger Park. It's a convenient walking distance to downtown and central campus. Ann Arbor is entirely walkable from here. It's less than two blocks (0.2 mile) to Michigan Stadium, 1.2 miles to the University of Michigan's central campus, 1.4 miles to the State Theater, and 2.2 miles to the Peony Garden at Nichols Arboretum. The closest bus stop is on Main Street, a block and a half away. Hosting large parties is not allowed except for corporate rentals that do not include overnight stays, and by special request that includes complying with Ann Arbor's 10 pm noise ordinance. If you would like to host an event for groups larger than our maximum occupancy of 8, we ask that you please find another location. STR21-2308
