Description

100 yrs ago, in a remote part of the Kauaeranga Valley, Simun Devcich, created a farmstead. He traded with the gum diggers and loggers, and the original historic buildings still remain. The Farmstead is recognised as a NZ treasured historical site, Cat. 1 We invite you to stay at the Devcich Farmstead, and experience the magic. This is not just a place to lay your head, but an adventure. Enjoy, the animals, history, the river, and mountain ranges. Handy to the Pinnacles walk and Canyonz. The space The homestead is very welcoming and cosy, large original kauri dining table and fully functional kitchen, plus a BBQ. Bathroom, has a shower and claw bath, separate laundry. Enjoy a beautiful display from the Peacock, while you have your morning coffee sitting in the sunning Conservatory . Other pheasants and birds are running around as you explore the old sheds, and the Highland cows, Llamas, Emus and Damara sheep are close by. Mobile reception for Spark and vodafone. Also available on the property for extended family is a one bedroom cottage listed separately on the site. https://www.airbnb.co.nz/rooms/29550040?s=51 Guest access The river is on the boundary, good trout fishing and a great swimming hole nearby. Quite an array of exotic animals and birds. DOC bush walks to the Pinnacles and Canyonz, are further up the valley. History tour of the old buildings included and available on request. Other things to note Access to the property is via a ford river crossing, in the event of heavy rain there will be no vehicle access. On these occasions there is a foot swingbridge access across the river and you will be met by a tractor to transport you and your bags to the house.
