The Happy Hamlet - A special hidaway
A Special Hideaway - Best enjoyed with family or friends!
Description
Welcome to The Happy Hamlet, a centuries-old farm lovingly restored as a peaceful countryside hideaway in Southwest France. Created for families, friends, retreats and group gatherings, this is a place to slow down, unplug and reconnect. Enjoy five charming bedrooms, a large barn with kitchen and lounge, multiple outdoor terraces, a seasonal natural pool, a year-round sauna, and over 30 acres of preserved nature, all just for you. Here, time softens - and simple pleasures take the lead. The space A Special Countryside Hideaway to Slow Down & Reconnect The centuries-old but lovingly renovated Happy Hamlet is a unique countryside hideaway, created to slow down, reconnect and enjoy life together. Our property consists of a guesthouse with five large, charming bedrooms, a huge open-space barn that serves as your shared living area, a seasonal natural swimming pool, a sauna available all year round, several outdoor terraces, a pétanque field, and over 30 acres (13 hectares) of preserved nature - all exclusively for you to enjoy. We are known for a warm, relaxed atmosphere, attention to detail and genuinely friendly hosting. You are very welcome to come and experience it for yourself. Bienvenue 🌿 SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS Each room can accommodate up to three guests and has its own private bathroom with a window. The comfortable single beds can be arranged as a double, and each room includes an extra bed option. The maximum sleeping capacity of the property is 15 guests. The rooms are decorated in a shabby chic, rustic and countryside style, designed to feel welcoming, lived-in and authentic rather than formal or hotel-like. A PLACE WITH SOUL Every piece of décor has a story to tell. Some objects followed us through different chapters of our lives (from New York to the Horn of Africa, Finland and beyond), others were found at local brocantes, markets or right here in the hamlet and lovingly recycled by our own hands. The oldest writings we discovered in the attic date back to 1580. Find a cozy corner, sit or lie down, close your eyes - and let the walls (and your imagination) do the rest. YOUR PRIVACY, OUR PRESENCE The Happy Hamlet is fully privatised for you during your stay, so the property is entirely yours to enjoy. We do, however, live on the same premises, in a separate part of the property. Our guests have always considered this a real advantage: we are nearby if you need anything, are happy to share our favourite local tips and recommendations, and of course don't mind a friendly chat or a glass of something together if the mood strikes. We also need to take care of a few things around the property, such as cleaning the pool and watering the flowers and garden. Other than that, we keep a discreet presence and give you all the privacy you need to enjoy your stay. And one more thing: we have friendly dogs who are very much part of life at the Hamlet. They are much loved by our guests and may be around outdoors during your stay, although they are trained not to enter any of the guest buildings. If you or your children are afraid of dogs, even friendly ones, we may unfortunately not be the right match for you. THE BARN – YOUR SHARED LIVING SPACE The large open-space barn is your main living area. Spread across several levels, it includes: A fully equipped semi-professional kitchen, ideal for cooking together Large communal dining areas A platform used for yoga, workshops or shared meals A lounge with a piano, board games, books and magazines A more intimate dining salon on the lower level The barn and the guesthouse both have Wi-Fi, should you need it - though many guests enjoy taking the opportunity to unplug. OUTDOOR LIVING, ALL DAY LONG As much as the guesthouse and barn are appreciated, most of life here happens outdoors. Meals al fresco on one of the many terraces, sunset apéros with open views, a nap in a hammock under the fig tree, or a relaxed afternoon by the pool - each terrace offers a different atmosphere. Some are shaded, some open to the landscape, some perfect for dining under the stars. There is also sports equipment, bikes, and plenty of space to simply wander, breathe and slow down. NATURE, WELLNESS & EXPERIENCES Surrounded by wild countryside, The Happy Hamlet is ideal for nature walks, cycling, hiking and soft outdoor activities. The silence, birdsong and gentle rhythm of rural life are part of the experience. Additional experiences such as yoga sessions, massages, wine tastings and an Escape Forest Game can be organised on request. The natural swimming pool is available seasonally, while the sauna can be enjoyed all year round, especially appreciated during cooler months. FOR STAYS, RETREATS & GATHERINGS The Happy Hamlet welcomes holiday rentals, creative and wellness retreats (yoga, pilates, art, writing, well-being), private celebrations and corporate stays such as team gatherings, workshops or offsites - always in a spirit of simplicity, nature and connection. Guests often tell us that time feels different here - that it slows down. Many reviews highlight the peaceful setting, the shared moments, and the personal care we put into hosting. We’ll be happy to share recommendations and local gems before your arrival so you can make the most of your stay. We look forward to welcoming you, Suska & Nico Guest access This is a centuries-old hamlet and it used to be a home for several families. Today, however, the rentals are always 100% private which means that you have the whole property for yourself. (With the exception that our private house and outdoors are on the same property, but you will have all the privacy you need) Other things to note The feedback has been overwhelming, from guests stating "I will never want to leave" upon arrival to tears with thank you's at departure. They say the Hamlet is: Relaxed and relaxing. Laid-back luxury. Warm. Rich. Welcoming. Liberating. Come and tell us your opinion! Registration Details 060 +00021 H
