Welcome to the guesthouse at the monastery gate Steingaden! The "Camera della Principessa Nera" is a large cross-vaulted hall on the first floor of our house, suitable for 1-3 adults. East side, morning sun, facing the cathedral/monastery courtyard. Spacious high, double cross-vaulted hall, bright and friendly. Two windows over the guesthouse garden. In winter, it can be heated with a tiled stove. The hall is to give a splendor with a stone floor made of travertine, its wall decoration and its high-quality furniture and the indirect lighting of the cross-vaulted hall, which takes into account the centuries of the history of this room and yet offers all the necessary, modern comfort that makes your stay an unforgettable experience. The "Camera della Principessa Nera" can be reached via a separate entrance, directly in the monastery gate and the foyer. The Camera is a spacious, bright, double cross-vaulted hall, in historic, almost one meter thick sandstone walls, which protect well from the cold in winter and provide pleasant coolness in summer. It is located on the 2nd floor directly above the small private garden, facing the interior of the former monastery. From the window you have a view of the old farm buildings, the courtyard and the cathedral. For the stylishly furnished bathroom that you use together with the "Giordano Bruno" and the "Gerolamo Cardano", you will receive a basket with everything you need, such as towels, soap, slippers and bathrobe. Everything will of course be exchanged daily if necessary. The room has a minibar with soft drinks and an espresso machine. Consumption here is free / included, as far as non-alcoholic. The minibar is filled daily by room service. Breakfast is included and we are happy to serve it to you in our new attraction, the delicatessen "Der Zeidelbär" and prepare it according to a selection and your wishes from high-quality, as far as possible regional products. (Breakfast is plentiful. However, some extras are subject to a fee, e.g. scrambled eggs, prosecco or champagne) Not suitable for children or disabled people (therefore we unfortunately only rent to adults), not wheelchair accessible, steep stairs in a historic building. The namesake PRINCIPESSA NERA: The black princess is a person of the present. A decades-long friendship unites us. She is a "real" princess and comes from a very old nobility. She was married to a prince of a formerly ruling house and during his lifetime was herself a princess. She remained faithful to him until death parted them many years ago, as she had promised. Since that time, she has been "only" a princess and wears black with greatness and dignity. When the opportunity arose to acquire the house at the monastery gate, the princess approached us and made possible in infinite generosity and boundless trust what otherwise could not have succeeded. She has honored us to be the first guest in our newly built house at the Klosterpforte and honored us on Saturday, the 15th June 15, 2019 with her visit, along with her entourage. According to her wish, we appreciate her - without mentioning her name. The hall in which she spent a night in this house is henceforth our black princess, our "Principessa Nera".
