Close by, Culzean Castle is well worth a visit as are Souter Johnnie’s Cottage at Kirkoswald and the Burns National Heritage Centre at Alloway. Trips to the island of Arran depart from Ardrossan and day trips to Northern Ireland from Stranraer are easily possible. Troon is 20 miles.
