An ideal weekend getaway for families or groups of friends, Old Rectory Barn enjoys its own access, parking, amenities, garden and privacy. Inside are many original features including beams, roof trusses, exposed stone and brick walls, and a flagstone floor, as well as a wood burner, and modern features such as Wi-Fi and Smart TV. The owner thoughtfully provides complementary shampoo, essentials and a hairdryer. Outside is a 1-acre private garden with 300-year old cedar tree. The village green is located a 2-minute walk along a footpath. There you will find a 16th-century pub (with garden) that serves lunch and dinner. The pub is a starting point for numerous walks, cycle and bridle paths. Black Down, the highest point in the National Park, with its pine and heather covered slopes made famous by Tennyson, is immediately accessible on foot. The owner provides details of the many footpaths and suggested walks in a welcome pack for guests. Next to the village green is the recreation ground with pavilion and outside café. This is the location for cricket, football and stoolball matches, and is a launch site for hot-air balloon flights (including in winter). There are three well-maintained tennis courts, as well as outdoor zumba/fitness classes. Within a 30-minute walk via footpaths are two further pubs, one which was the Winner of the Good Food Pub Guide of the Year 2012 and Pub of the Year Sussex Life Awards 2016, and the other which has a popular Indian restaurant offering takeaway as well as eat-in. There are other award-winning local pubs within a short drive.
