Spartia/Cape Liakas, Kefalonia Cape Liakas extends to south of the island, finishing in white limestone cliffs that plunge down into the Ionian sea in kaleidoscopic shades of blue from the palest turquoise to the deepest cobalt . Atop, the land is a fertile landscape of lemon trees and olive groves, with occasional church bell towers punctuating the skyline and the pine clad slopes of Mount Aenos creating the backdrop. The small white washedvillage of Spartia is just one of the villages that interrupt a lush landscape, remaining relatively unassuming and off the beaten track. In the centre of the village there are a handful of tavernas in a small square and a couple of minimarkets. A network of paths and lanes lace the surrounding countryside making for interesting walking, especially in early and late spring when wild flowers colour the scenery. Approximately 2kms downhill from the village is the fishing jetty, with three tavernas nearby and a little sandy beach on either side. It’s a nice spot for a swim with shallow water and is ideal for children. You will need a car when staying at Villa Apollon. There is no bus service or any passing taxis.
