An artistic off-beat unique boutique homestay/apple orchard farmstay-Set amidst an acre of apple orchard, we are 6 kms from Manali in village Burwa. Someplace Farmstay was built by the hosts on principles of the local Kathkunni style of architecture, which is eco friendly. So you are warm in winters & cool in the summers. This room is ideal for a group of 4. It has as a cozy mezzanine/attic that sleeps 2. Live like we were meant to - close to nature, by nature, for nature, of nature. The space Someplace offers stunning views of Rohtang La, Manali Valley, and the Dhauladhar and Pir Panjal ranges. Since we are within an apple orchard, we have beautiful spots where you can sleep, meditate, read, or just stare into nothing from. These natural nooks have been created by an artist, as are the pathways, bonfire & BBQ pits. Each season presents a unique visual delight here. Summers are lush with greenery, flowers, birds, bees and butterflies. Enjoy fresh apricots from the 5 trees on the property in summer. At the end of monsoon enjoy fresh apples from the orchard. Autumn brings the magic of yellows, browns and oranges along with apple cider and apple desserts. Winters cast a spell of white and feels like stepping into a surreal world. Spring will wrestle out a poet in you. The first burst of yellow mustard, then the deep pink apricot bloom and to end on a high note, the pale pink blooms of apples all across the valley will leave you hypnotized. We still are amazed after being here for so many years. We have built a living experience with conscious efforts at reducing carbon footprint and maintaining the native habitat around us. Our home has been built using the large boulders present on the land on principles of bio architecture, employing the age old practices of 'Kathkunni', the original local architectural style. All the building blocks have been chiselled by hand and insulated with mud. We have on purpose kept those areas exposed where cement had been used to show how limited the use of cement is. The room and spaces have been designed for comfort with a distinctive character with modern amenities. Set up on the upper level, this room, Recital in Rock, offers unparalleled views of the mountains all around. Sit in the balcony and enjoy a clear view of the Manali valley, the green medows and pine trees, while you stay warm & cozy! This space is perfect for friends or couples or a small family, to unwind, relax & make the most of their holiday. You might just find handmade items since the host is also an artist. Ask us where you can go, where only a few go. Ask us where you can eat, where the chef enjoys cooking. Ask us about off beat things to do because that's all we do when we do our dos. Interested guests can pre-book guided walks or a recipe learning class at an additional charge (depending on availability of home chef & guide). Please do go through our House Rules before booking. Guest access Apart from our staff quarters and storeroom, we'd like guests to explore the large apple orchard. There is a hammock in the orchard you can relax on. We can even provide durries for you to indulge in a nap in the orchard. During spring the orchard is full of apple flowers and butterflies. In August and September, there are a million apples all around and the orchard is all shades of green and red. As the weather turns colder the bonfire pits start becoming the preferred spot to be around. Enjoy a barbeque here with your family and friends. Though our library and dining space, which has been done up by an artist, is a hit in every season, during the winters it becomes the coziest spot at Someplace with heaters, and warm lights and also the warmth of art and books all around. Guests are welcome to visit us in the kitchen and maybe we can share a recipe or two. Other things to note 1. Since we are an eco friendly haven we do not use generators, and in case of electricity outages, which are usually short and rare, we provide extra blankets. An inverter backup is on the property for basic lighting in the room which lasts for a couple of hours. 2. We do not provide room service. Only tea/coffee/snacks are provided in the room. 3. BREAKFAST Your complimentary breakfast is 'limited' and 'set', and will be 2 items from below menu: Two Bread slices per person+Butter+Jam+2 Eggs per person (Omelettes/Fried Eggs)/Sweet Nutty Oats (if you don't want eggs). AND 1 item from below menu: 1. Lushke: Himachali wheatflour crepes served with ghee & Gud Shakkar (2 lushke/per person) Extra lushka: Rs 40 2. Veggie Peanuts Poha 3. Savoury Daliya (Porridge) 4. Namkeen Masala Sewaiyan 5. Veggie Upma 6. Masala Aalu Roti (2 rotis/per person) Extra roti: Rs 40 NOTE for complimentary breakfast: - Your complimentary breakfast is served with love, and made with the freshest ingredients possible. We serve dishes we are good at. It's not on the menu just to add items. - Any order in addition to the set breakfast of the day will be charged. - The complimentary breakfast changes daily and specials requests are not accepted. - Complimentary breakfast is served only from 9:15 to 10:30 am. Breakfast is charged post 10:30 am. - We do not pack breakfast for guests to carry. - If you are not having breakfast at the property, it will not be adjusted against another meal. - You can expected and requested to let us know in case you aren't having breakfast. MEALS To maintain quality, freshness of ingredients, and to avoid wastage & stay true to being eco friendly, we have a 'daily fixed menu' across veg and non veg dishes. The day's menu is shared with guests in advance. You are requested to let us know in advance whether or not you will be having lunch/dinner at Someplace. Lunch confirmation: 11:30 AM Dinner confirmation: 5:30 PM Please note timings for meals: Lunch: 1:45 PM to 3 PM Dinner: 8:30 PM to 10 PM - Kitchen is closed from 3 pm to 4:30 pm for staff lunch, and daily deep cleaning and sanitizing. Long stay meals plan: Your long stay 'Home Meals Food Plan' (applicable on a stay of over 7 days) includes below items ONLY: 1. 1 Morning Tea/Coffee each 2. Breakfast (eggs included) 3. Lunch/dinner with 1 curry, 1 sabzi, rice and chapatis (1 non veg curry instead of veg curry if on non veg plan). You can check for more details. 6. Additional Amenities Charge: 6.1. Electric Heater - Rs. 300 per night Electric Blanket - Rs 250 per night 6.2. This room is for 4 people. Extra person is charged at Rs 1400/per person a night including a complimentarybreakfast. A max of 5 adults are allowed in the room. 6.3 Special decoration in room is charged at Rs 900 to Rs 1500. 6.4 Bonfires: Rs 700 per load (1 hour). 6.5 Laundry: We can help you with laundry washing depending on our schedule. We charge Rs 400 per wash load. 7. Check out: 11 am. - Please adhere to the check out time strictly as additional charges will be levied. - We charge 50% of the room rate for late stay of upto 4 hours post check out time i.e. 3 pm. Beyond 4 pm full day's room rate will be charged. However, in case of another booking on the same day as your check out day, you need to vacate the room & premises strictly on time. You can check in latest by 7 pm, and by 5 pm in winters (Dec to Feb). Late night check ins are subject to an agreement in advance. 8. Although rare, during peak winters the village sometimes faces the issue of water freezing in the pipes for a couple of hours in the morning. We provide buckets so that you can keep water handy if in case such an issue arrives. Such is life in the Himalayas! 9. Room cleaning and linen change is on request & every alternate day You can check for time slot at breakfast. You are requested not to leave the room in a dishevelled state. - Do not throw blankets on the ground. - Do not leave wet towels on the bed. - Do not leave eatables on bed. - Please clean up after your pets. We charge Rs 200 p/day for pets in room. - Do not throw plastic and cigarettes on the property. - Please do inform us in case of any damage to the rooms. We expect guests to as nice as we are to them. 10. Please carry suitable luggage as we are inside a farm, at a walk of 5 mins from the mainroad. We can assist you with your luggage but guests are expected to manage their own luggage. DON'TS: 1. We do not provide food & accommodation or parking for drivers. We can suggest budget stays close by, but can't guarantee prices/vacancy. 2. Please do not pluck apple flowers & fruits. You can request us to show you how to pluck an apple for experience. They are a source of income for the local farmer/landlord. Please respect that. 3. Please do not wash clothes in your room. 4. Don't treat the art in library as playthings. Time and emotion have gone into it. It's to be admired. Please buy to encourage the artist and to make your own to touch all you want. ------------
