Five minute walk to the lake, swim, paddle, fishing, golf and store. Relax on the front or back deck or cozy up in the covered gazebo area next to the fire. All new furniture, mattress and linens, black out curtains and everything you need to have a relaxing stay on the Island. Quiet, relaxing, beautifully furnished and comfortable home with well equipped kitchen, indoor and outdoor fireplaces, BBQ, outdoor living space and decks. Detached bunk house with Queen bed, sleeper sofa, Keurig and electric fireplace boasts 250 square feet of additional space for extra privacy from the main house to work, rest or relax away from other guests. This property is a true vacation for your fur babies too! Your pups will enjoy a completely fenced in back yard with lots of room to roam and play. After a long day of enjoying the beautiful island you can enjoy a lovely soak in the hot tub and watch the stars as you listen to the magical silence of the island. Just steps away from the only store on the island and a quick walk to both lakes and minutes from the Riviera Golf Course and Restaurant. Enjoy amazing take out food and/or cocktails from the Riviera Restaurant or the Anderson Island Cafe. Tons of hikes and trails, and swimming at The Old Swimming Hole. For summertime activities we have kayaks, paddle boards available for all of our guests. The entire house and bunk house are available for guest use with the exception of two locked utility closets. We have unlimited, fast and reliable Wi-Fi for guests through Centurylink and two areas to set up a home office, one in the master and one in the detached bunk house. It is the perfect environment for a staycation. Jacuzzi is available to guests and is not guaranteed if there are unavoidable mechanical issues, failure or poor weather. PLEASE shower before use, we are not responsible for cloudy or foamy water due to PH issues. Our jacuzzi is serviced after each checkout to ensure the water is clean and sanitized for each new arrival. We support Airbnb's Nondiscrimination Policy based on inclusion and respect. We have two RING camera in use when the house is unoccupied for security purposes, this camera is disabled when guests are present from check-in time to check-out. Please note that front and back decks may be slippery in the rain, please use caution at all times. Anderson Island is only available via ferry which runs from approximately 6am-10:50pm, 365 days a year, please plan ahead and have Ferry tickets/schedule from the Pierce County website. Please download the Ferry ticket app, City Experiences to purchase tickets ahead of time with a credit card. Please be sure to check and follow government guidelines for travel in this area. Hosts are available via cell phone for support during your stay. Instructions for Guest Access provided upon booking. Anderson Island is the Southmost Island on the Puget Sound, accessible by boat or a 20 minute ferry from Steilacoom. Once you arrive you will begin to explore the two fresh water lake, trails, beaches and more. There are two restaurants on the island and a general store for your use. Here are just a few of the activities you can enjoy during your stay: Kayaking – Explore approximately fifteen miles of shoreline, bays and coves or make a crossing to Key Peninsula, Nisqually Reach, or circumnavigate other islands. Bring your own boat and equipment. We can assist with your trip planning. Hiking – Try a relaxing one mile nature hike on the Jane Cammon Trail, or a longer hike to Andy’s Marine Park for a little beach combing. A short trail at the historic Johnson Farm will take you through the cool woods and by a quiet pond. Our newest trail, Jacob's point, 2.4 miles and offers water and mountain views, picnic tables along the way; beach access and a restroom near the trail's end. Bring a picnic and spend the day. (Check out the Anderson Island Parks website for more details.) Lakes – Swimming at The Old Swimming Hole for guest use. Parks*– There are several beautiful parks on the island, some with play equipment, and The Old Swimming Hole for swimming. Golf* – Beautifully maintained par three, 9 hole course. Paved cart paths. Club and cart rentals available. Call to reserve. Geocaching - Go on line, download coordinates to your GPS or phone, or print written clues, and explore the island, looking for treasures. There are over 50 geocaches on the island, just waiting to be discovered. Bicycling – Country roads, quiet neighborhoods, little traffic. Many areas have hills, but there are some flatter areas as well. Shopping – The Island General Store provides an excellent range of food products, fishing gear, and hardware, as well as a deli and souvenir clothing. The historic Johnson Farm has original buildings, community gardens, a gift shop and museum, open only on weekends April through mid-December, or by appointment in off season. Events – Come join us for some real traditional local ambiance. We are just “real folk” who enjoy having fun. Some of the annual events include: Fire Department Pancake Breakfast (Memorial Day Weekend) Farm Days (Memorial Day Weekend) Salmon Bake (July 4th Weekend) Community Fair (Labor Day Weekend) Concert at the Farm Friday Share & Care at the Community Center (Lunch, games, conversation - free) Restaurants – The Riviera Lakeshore Restaurant is a full service facility, open daily from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Winter days and hours are limited. Check for availability. They frequently feature live music on weekends. The Island Café serves breakfast and lunch daily, and dinners three nights a week. This is where the locals gather for a good cup of coffee and visiting. There is also a deli at the Island General Store and a few breakfast items, snacks. R&R – Catch up on your reading, take a nap, enjoy the sounds of nature and the quiet peacefulness that will surround you. Watch for deer, raccoons, squirrels, pilliated woodpeckers, eagles and other birds. On a clear night, go outside and look up at the millions of stars overhead. The island is truly a retreat from the pressures and hectic lifestyle of the city. Off Island Events and Activities: If you would like to visit the sites or attend events in the Tacoma area, ferry service is frequent. Just be sure to plan your return so you don't miss the last boat! *The Riviera Community provides some of the amenities listed for members only. Drive, bike or walk depending on your local destination. Please commit to quiet time from 10 pm - 8 am, our neighbors thank you :)!
