Gaze at marine life through the glass floors, melt into the memory foam king-size bed, relax in our ultra-comfortable catamaran deck hammocks, and snorkel the surrounding reefs right from the steps of your bungalow. Our location on the Sunset Coast of Isla Solarte features sweeping Caribbean views and is only 5 minutes Bocas Town, Isla Carenero, and Isla Bastimentos We are NEW! Which is why we don't have any reviews yet! Don't be afraid, we are sure you will love us! Plus, our first 3 bookings get an extra 20% off! We hope to see you soon! // This listing is for Bungalow 2, "Piña," which is located on the end. The only difference between bungalow 2 and bungalow 1 is that bungalow 2 has one glass floor panel in front of the bed, and bungalow 1 has 2 glass floor panels on either side of the bed. ► The Bungalows Our bungalows were thoughtfully designed to include the top amenities that overwater bungalows are loved for like: ✓ Glass Floors ✓ Direct Water Access ✓ Thatch Roofs ✓ Ultra-Comfortable Catamaran Nets on the Deck ✓ Snorkeling Right in Front of your Bungalow ✓ Outdoor Showers ✓ King Size Memory Foam Beds that Look Straight Out onto the Caribbean Sea ✓ 4 Total Seating/ Lounge Areas ✓ 2 Ceiling Fans (1 Above King Bed, 1 Above L Couch) ✓ Blackout Curtains ✓ Mini Fridge in Bungalow ✓ Bocas Style Caribbean Colors The bungalows are built with respect to the local Caribbean-Colonial style that Bocas del Toro is famous for but with modern, luxury enhancements. The interior walls and ceilings are white and light, putting an emphasis on the intense Caribbean colors that jump out of every window and doorway. The interior floors are tiled with a natural wood appearance which compliments the custom, hand-crafted wooden furniture. The L Shaped couch is custom made with SunBrella materials. Black tile in the bathroom creates a romantic atmosphere under the rain-water shower as a screened window lets in a welcomed cool breeze. Four different lounge areas give you options from where to watch the sunset. The only thing missing is you! ► Sleeping Arrangements ⋆ The Bungalows are designed for 2 adults but can sleep up to 4. ⋆ Each bungalow features 1 king-size bed in the master bedroom. ⋆ The indoor lounge area features an L shaped couch that can be converted into 2 single beds for kids or extra adults as long as they are OK with this sleeping arrangement. ⋆ A unique feature of our bungalows is a sliding wall that can be closed to separate the master bedroom from the lounge area, creating two private spaces. We will be on-site from 8AM to 12PM daily for breakfast, and from 4PM till close if you decide to have dinner with us. While we won't be on-site all of the time, we do live in a house on the property and are available via cellphone to assist you with whatever you need. We will help you plan your activities, give you advice on the best things to do, and do our best to ensure the best experience possible. We are located on the Sunset Coast of Isla Solarte, just a 5-minute water taxi to: ⋆ Bocas Town ⋆ Isla Carenero ⋆ Isla Bastimentos ⋆ SURF: Carenero Point, Black Rock, Old Man's & Bibi's Break (Isla Carenero) ⋆ Bibi's Beach and Overwater Bar/ Restaurant (Isla Carenero) ⋆ The Blue Coconut Overwater Bar/ Restaurant (Isla Solarte) ⋆ Alvin & Kecha's Overwater Restaurant (Local Food, Isla Bastimentos) ► Our Neighborhood Our neighborhood is locally known as Solarte Uno and features a small indigenous village with a Catholic school that serves students from kindergarten through 6th grade. The village also has a soccer field, church, and volleyball court - essential community gathering spots. ► Experience the Local Culture We aren't kidding when we say that you will experience the culture of Bocas del Toro right from the deck of your overwater bungalow! Local fishermen will paddle by in their dugout canoes and the songs of the church will echo in the distance on Sundays. You'll hear chickens crowing, tropical birds singing their choruses, and the occasional uproar of our neighbor's dogs... Welcome to Panama! ► Isla Solarte ⋆ Isla Solarte is known as being the least populated of the 4 main Bocas islands. ⋆ The majority of its inhabitants are indigenous locals or foreign ex-pats (like us). ⋆ The island is covered with thick rainforest and some of the oldest trees in the archipelago. There is also an abundance of orange poison dart frogs, tropical birds, and the occasional monkey or sloth! ⋆ The exterior of the island is rimmed with coral reefs and mangrove islets - great for exploring by kayak and paddleboard! ► Hospital Point ⋆ We are located just a few minutes away from a popular and historical landmark called Hospital Point. ⋆ This area is known to have some of the most vibrant and diverse corals in the entire archipelago and thus, it is a popular snorkeling and scuba diving destination. ⋆ This is a great area to explore with one of our kayaks or paddleboards as it is only about 5-10 minutes away! ► Hiking ⋆ Isla Solarte has miles of jungle trails waiting to be explored! ⋆ We offer a guided hiking tour, led by one of our indigenous local workers! ⋆ A selection of hiking boots is also provided, or you can bring your own hiking shoes. ► Our Central and Convenient Location ⋆ In relation to the rest of the archipelago, you will find our location to be one of the most convenient. ⋆ Bocas Town, Isla Carenero, and Isla Bastimentos are all an equal 5 minutes' water taxi ride away. ⋆ Surfing at Carenero Point, Black Rock, Old Man's and Bibi's Break are all just 5 minutes away. ⋆ You'll also find some of the best restaurants in Bocas del Toro are also only 5 minutes away. Getting around the outer islands of Bocas del Toro is all about the water taxi. It is the most common form of transportation in the archipelago, even more common than yellow land taxis! Therefore, it is essential that you feel comfortable taking these water taxis to and from our location, and also around to different islands, beaches, and activities. If this is something you are not comfortable with then we might not be the best fit for you! We will help you arrange water taxis from Sol Bungalows, as well as your tours and excursions. We have expert knowledge of the archipelago due to living, guiding, and adventuring here since 2015. We will advise you on the best activities depending on your interests as well as the weather and ocean conditions. You will also enjoy exploring around Isla Solarte on our kayaks and paddle boards, and a guided hike to Hospital Point is another excellent activity! ► About Sol Bungalows Sol Bungalows is our new overwater bungalow B&B on a quiet corner of Isla Solarte, 5 minutes from Bocas Town, Isla Carenero, and Isla Bastimentos. We feature 2 deluxe overwater bungalows and a 2 story common area. Our dining room is located on the second floor of our common area and features cool breezes and stunning, 180-degree Caribbean views. ► Sol Bungalows Amenities: ✓ Breakfast Included and Dinner Option On-Site ✓ 2 Double Seater Ocean Kayaks ✓ 2 Paddle Boards ✓ 2 Snorkel Masks provided per bungalow ✓ 4 Soft Top Longboard Surfboards for rent on site ✓ Rainforest Hiking Access ✓ Snorkeling Right in Front and in the Area ✓ Incredible Mountain Views ✓ Incredible Sunset Views ✓ Knowledgeable Hosts with Years of Experience Guiding in Bocas del Toro ✓ Swiss Massage Available ⋆ Snorkeling is possible directly in front of our bungalows where a coral garden sits just meters away. Each bungalow comes with two snorkel masks, and we encourage you to use our kayaks and paddle boards to explore around the island! ⋆ The seafloor in our location is mostly covered in either coral or seagrass which acts as a tropical fish nursery. For this reason, we ask that you only tread water, float, or swim in our area and do not walk around as you may damage the corals. ⋆ Since we only feature two bungalows, it is common that you may be the only guests we have, or at most, there can be 4 other guests on-site outside of your group. This creates a very private and intimate experience! ► We are Off-Grid ⋆ We are an off-grid B&B that relies on solar power and rainwater catchment systems. As these are both limited resources, we depend on our guests to use them both sustainably. Bocas del Toro’s climate can be unpredictable and we truly do not know when the start of a month-long drought may be upon us! ► Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner: ⋆ Breakfast is included with your stay. Each meal includes French press coffee or tea, fruit juice, and your choice of a smoothie bowl, pancake, breakfast sandwich, or the traditional 2 eggs, bacon, and toast. ⋆ Lunch is not available on-site at Sol Bungalows and there are no lunch options within walking distance on our island. However, we are located within a 5-minute boat ride to some amazing lunch spots, which you are encouraged to visit. Many tours and activities are combined with lunch as well. ⋆ Dinner is available on-site. We have a set menu that changes daily which includes an appetizer and main dish for an affordable price. Sign up for dinner is made at breakfast or can be arranged for your first night with us via email or direct message. Some dinner items include fresh fish, ceviches, tacos, curries, and vegan and vegetarian dishes. ► Drinks Fresh fruit smoothies are available during breakfast and a selection of wine, beer, and mixed drinks are served at dinner. Due to our size limitations, we do not have a bar that is open all day. Instead, you can purchase alcohol or other beverages from us or in town and keep them chilled in your mini-fridge for easy, all-day access. ► Drinking-Water All of our drinking water is filtered rainwater and is 100% safe for drinking :).
