Description
With views over the valley, "Ananda" has its own woodland and stream and is perfectly situated for guests to explore beautiful places such as Avondale Forest Park, Glendalough, Glenmalure and Avoca. Stunning Brittas Bay beach is only 20 minutes away by car. Adult guests only. No children under 12 years. The space "Ananda", which is the Tibetan word for "bliss", is self-catering and completely separate from the original cottage which dates back to 1905. It boasts a luxurious sleigh bed for your comfort and has both electric heating and a wood-fired stove. The whole property is on a three-acre site, two-thirds of which is covered by mature woodland. A year-round stream flows through the trees. Drinking water comes from our own well. "Whitebeam" is home to three friendly dogs and our resident hens and geese who supply us with delicious organic eggs. There are two beehives situated in a secluded spot, well away from the house. We do not use herbicides or pesticides on our land, so please excuse the occasional weed!! We are fortunate to have buzzards and red kites overhead most days. We are also visited by many other species of birds including sparrowhawk, tree-creeper, goldfinch, bullfinch, and Ireland's smallest bird, the goldcrest. The most recent species to be identified here is the Greater Spotted Woodpecker. This bird is still relatively rare in Ireland, only breeding here since 2006. Guest access Access is through a shared driveway with the main house. Please close the gate on entry and exit to keep our three dogs safe. Guests are welcome to explore and relax in the woodland and garden. There are beautiful views of the valley from Ananda. Why not sit out on the granite-cobble patio and enjoy a meal cooked on the barbecue? Other things to note We provide some homemade bread, flapjacks and organic eggs on your arrival
