Travel dirt roads from the center of Barnard for approximately three miles and you will arrive at the Cabin at Deerbrook Farm. The driveway will bring you right to the Cabin where you will enjoy complete privacy. The charming, one-story, shingled building is surrounded by 400 hundred acres of beautiful fields and woods. There are miles of trails to enjoy hiking, running, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. It is located just three miles from the village of East Barnard, the Peaceable Kingdom. The shingled cabin has been completely renovated over the last couple of years. One of the most charming features of the newly renovated space is the front porch and large deck that is accessed from the French doors in the one bedroom containing a king-sized bed. The bedroom also contains a small single pull-out sofa. The small entry provides for a place to hang your gear and take off your boots. From there, you enter the fully equipped kitchen with all new stainless-steel appliances including stove, refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, washer and dryer. From here you will enter the dining and living room with fireplace. The corner of the living room has a queen-sized pull out sofa and includes the 50” TV for your entertainment. You will be able to enjoy abundant privacy with exclusive use of the Cabin and its surrounding yard during your booking. There are no visible neighboring properties and the space is known for its sanctity and peace by all its previous guests. We are available if you have any issues during your stay. Otherwise we leave you to enjoy your privacy at the Cabin The Cabin is located just 5 minutes from Silver Lake in Barnard, 15 minutes from Woodstock, 10 minutes from Suicide Six, 45 minutes from Killington, 20 minutes from Vermont Law School and 40 minutes from Dartmouth College. It is a short 2 ½ hour drive from Boston and a 5 hour drive from New York. Located in the foothills of the Green Mountains, situated at 1700 feet, atop the Broad Brook watershed. It is a place of amazing beauty and diversity—fields,farms, and gardens. Our neighbors are farmers who grow apples, vegetables,cows, pigs, chickens, grapes, pears, ducks, turkeys and hay. In the surrounding area you will find Kiss The Cow Farm, Feast and Field Market, Fable Fermentory, Eastman Farm and Heartwood Farm providing wonderful dairy products, grass-fed meats, organic vegetables, kombucha as well as, artisan cider and vinegar. Across Royalton Turnpike Road, not far from the Cabin, is La Collina Vineyard, also known as Little Hillside. Our neighbors first planted their 650 vines in 2016. Then in 2017, they approached us about leasing our “magical” five-acre field to increase their grape production. Known as Big Hillside, these five acres, is the first biodynamically grown cooperative vineyard in Vermont. 1200 vines were planted in 2018 and another 1200 vines were planted in 2019. These grapes will be purchased by La Garagista Vineyard and Fable Fermentory both located in Barnard and by Zafa Wines of Burlington. We recommend that you come to the Cabin with your own vehicle. There is no public transportation in this area.
