The space This cozy apartment with a lot of light is located on the fourth and top floor of a residential building in Via Osteria del Guanto, a little street in one of the liveliest and most characteristic areas of the historical center of Florence, a less than 5 minute walk to Piazza della Signoria, the Uffizi Gallery and Ponte Vecchio. The street name, which translates to “Glove Tavern Street”, was named after a tavern formerly located on the ground floor of this property, owned by a noble Florentine family that had its family crest on the door: a leather glove on a gold background. The area is central to all the sights and attractions of the city and known by the Florentines for its mix of neighborhood shops, local restaurants, and wine bars. This little gem is perfect to experience Florence at its fullest: it is in the pulsing heart of the city, but located on a quiet street. Two large windows offer a fantastic view over the roofs of Florence and some of its breathtaking monuments, such as San Miniato Cathedral, whose golden mosaic sparks at sunset. The apartment consists of two rooms, a full kitchen with a table that seats four and a large bedroom, including a seating area with pull-out couch and TV. The bedroom features a Queen size bed (160 cm or 63 in) with double pillows and a medium-hard mattress, as well as a memory foam mattress topper for extra comfort. All of the wood furniture has been handcrafted by my dad, giving the space a unique Tuscan feel. While taking a shower you will enjoy the view of Palazzo Vecchio stone tower. Guest access The apartment is on the fourth and top floor of a walk-up building (no elevator). There are 65 steps to reach the unit, which may not be suitable for all guests or for very large or heavy luggage. Entry to this secure building of just four residents is via a keypad.
