This peaceful retreat cottage nestled on 26 acres of private woodlands has over 30 years of meditation practice enriching the property, offering a healing and restful atmosphere. It’s an ideal spot for winter sports, cross-country skiing, contemplation, nature walks, and swimming in nearby lakes and rivers. Every window frames a picturesque view of nature. For dining, enjoy delicious Thai cuisine nearby and local fare at Molly’s in Minden, or savor excellent fish and chips in Bobcaygeon. The space The cottage is on one level and easily accessible with no stairs. Both bedrooms are separated by the living room, offering ample privacy between sleeping spaces. It features a queen bed, a single bed, and a good quality double sofa bed in the living room. The porch has a table with four chairs for outdoor dining, along with another table, chairs, a simple BBQ, and a firepit in the garden. The garden offers a beautiful view and skyline, perfect for watching sunsets. Nearby, Irondale's Furnace Falls on the 503 to Bancroft boasts a waterfall and a great swimming spot, as well as excellent kayaking on the Burnt River. Enjoy scenic fall drives to Bancroft, Dorset, Haliburton Sculpture Park, and Balsam Lake Park, which features a white sandy beach where kayaks can be hired, and Algonquin Highland Park with its great trails and scenic viewing points. Guest access Nice long driveway with plenty of parking space; parking is also easy in town. The nearest small towns are Kinmount (10-minute walk), Minden (15-minute drive), Fenelon Falls (25 minutes), and Bobcaygeon (30 minutes). Further afield is Haliburton (40 minutes). All these areas offer plenty of arts, crafts, nature walks, and various swimming spots. Kinmount has one local shop, while for organic food, you'll need to go to Fenelon Falls or Minden. Other things to note We aim to be environmentally friendly, so we kindly ask guests to bring their own sheets, towels, and pillowcases, especially for shorter stays. For the queen-size bed, please bring one top and one bottom sheet; for the single bed, one top and one bottom sheet; and for the double sofa bed, one top and one bottom double sheet. All pillows, blankets, and duvets are provided, We supply all kitchen towels and dishcloths, so no need to pack those. If you’re flying in from afar or arriving from outside Canada, we can provide sheets and towels for a modest fee of 50 CAD—think of it as your “comfort upgrade” fee. Thanks for helping us keep things green—short stays mean less laundry and a happier planet! Just a couple of house rules: No smoking or loud parties (our neighbors prefer their peace and quiet), and please leave outdoor shoes at the door—slippers are your wintertime best friends.
