Built in 1900, this historic 3BR/2BA house backs against the river in Townsend, and retains the charming architecture of early America, complete with a wraparound porch, original hardwood and a claw bathtub. The property spans the Little River with a private deck and stairs leading to the water. Only a short drive from Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, you’ll have easy access to East Tennessee’s hottest attractions, including the Smoky Mountain National Park, Cades Cove(11 miles) and Dollywood. The space Upon entering Little River Cottage, you’ll be transported to a place where time is irrelevant. The only thing concerning is where to relax and take in the comfort and beauty the house provides. Located on 321 Highway, Little River Cottage spans the Little River, and a sidewalk right out front provides safe pedestrian and bicycle access to nearby shops and restaurants. Little River Cottage is also very easy access and you don’t have to worry about climbing any steep switchbacks or narrow roads to get to the home. The wraparound porch is complete with ceiling fans and rocking chairs, providing ultimate relaxation for your mountain getaway, and a private deck offers direct access to the Little River. The property is 18 miles from Pigeon Forge and 24 miles from Gatlinburg. Smoky Mountain National park access and the entrance to Cades Cove Loop is just 11 miles away. River Rats water tubing is right down the road where you can enjoy an afternoon on the water floating all the way back to Little River Cottage. There is fishing, horseback riding, golfing, hiking and zip lining all close by. A day trip to Dollywood and many other activities in Pigeon Forge are less than an hour away, or feel free to stay inside enjoying one of the three smart TVs, cable and internet. This one-of-a-kind 3BR/2BA historic home has an antique charm and two levels with enough room for the whole family. The large kitchen, dining area, living room and sitting room provide plenty of space to relax, and the upstairs houses two private bedrooms with a third bed on the landing above the stairs. (One bedroom is loft style at the top of the stairs). There are two bathrooms, one from the original construction with an antique claw tub, and the second bathroom was recently added with a standing shower. Both are on the first floor. The kitchen is completely stocked, outfitted with modern appliances, ample counter space and a dining table. There is another table just outside on the rear porch, and a third table on the deck above the water. Plenty of restaurants are nearby for dining out, or feel free to use the grill. Visit Dollywood and downtown Gatlinburg within a short drive, then return home to watch the sun set over this incredible property while soaking in the hot tub on the deck overlooking the river. *Pets* This home has a strict no pet policy. If pets are found on the property the guest will be asked to leave and charged additional fees. More about the location: This house is located in Townsend. Please be aware that although this home sleeps 7 people, it is a historical construction and therefore has only one shower. -Distance to Gatlinburg: 24 miles. -Distance to Pigeon Forge: 18 miles. -Distance to Cades Cove Loop entrance: 11 miles . It can snow a few times a year at this location. In this event 4-wheel drive is recommended. * We do have Wi-Fi listed as an amenity. The internet works well most of the time, but in this mountain community Wi-Fi at times can be unreliable and is impacted by weather and trees falling. Occasionally, interruptions in service requiring the provider to send a technician will occur. Technician appointments will not always be available during the trip and are scheduled at the earliest possibility. Some cell phone providers don’t get perfect service! We have Verizon and it works for us, but some providers seem to be spotty.
