Windrose Carriage House - Oceanfront retreat

Ocean-front carriage house is the perfect place to come back to after your days hiking, biking and boating around Acadia. Make use of our dock, kayaks, canoe and bikes to explore the quieter side of Mount Desert Island. Minutes from Bartletts Landing, Long Pond & Beech Hill Farm. The master bed lays right under a skylight, letting you enjoy the spectacular stars, far away from city light pollution. Daily deer sightings! A chest of boardgames and 2 futons are great for extra company. The space The carriage house is the refinished upstairs of our garage. It is one large open area with a queen bed on one end and a living room area on the other end. The two futons fold down for extra sleeping space. There’s a dining table in the center to work or eat at. Kitchen Amenities at your disposal: - Outdoor grill - Large mini fridge with freezer - Keurig coffee maker - 7-in-one InstantPot - Ninja Foodi mini combination oven - 2 burner hot plate - Blender - Knives + Cutting board - Spiralizer Guest access You have access to the carriage house, our refinished space above the garage. You are also welcome to the use of 2 sea kayaks, an open-faced kayak (great for shorter, playful paddles around the cove), the canoe, and the accompanying lifejackets and kayak skirts. You also have access to the 2 bikes in the garage and the accompanying helmets. Walk along the mowed path below the main house and you will find our kayaks, the dock and the ocean. Other things to note The house looks like it is on a small pond but, actually it is a cove that opens to the rest of the ocean. This means the cove turns into a mudflat when the tide goes out. When using the canoe/kayaks, you need to make sure you time your departure and return with the tides. You can check apps like Tide Alert or Tide charts to find out when high tide is (check Southwest Harbor.) Make sure to leave/return within 2.5 hours before/after high tide.
