Description

This 1882 Victorian Mansion has been renovated with a modern kitchen, 4.5 baths, and 7 bedrooms that complement the original character of the house. It features a dining room with seating for 10+, living room with 58" TV, 3rd floor bonus living room, a sunny deck with grill and patio seating, ample yard space for games, and more. Our house is conveniently located minutes off I-95 and close to downtown restaurants and breweries, while only 10 minutes to Portland and 20 minutes to Sebago. The space We furnished and decorated the house with respect to the Victorian style but with modern comfort and flexibility in mind. The bedrooms provide different combinations of beds and couches so that whether you're traveling with family, coworkers, or your club rugby team, you can find a room that's comfortable for you. Our dining table seats 10, there is an extra table and chairs in the adjoining room, and there's room for 3 more at the kitchen island to accommodate a sit-down dinner for all. The third floor provides more space and privacy for your group to spread out with its own living room, bathroom, 2 bedrooms, and mini-fridge and bar sink. Some other notes about the house: - The house was built in 1882 and still has many original features. We have updated much of it, but it still has its original windows, doors, hardware, etc. Some windows and doors are intentionally locked shut and we ask that you respect those spaces for your own safety. - There is plenty of parking in the driveway for 10+ cars. - We have a full sized washer and dryer for your use. - Both TVs have cable (streaming apps can be accessed through your own login). - There are individual AC units in each of the bedrooms. - We provide all the cooking basics including pots, pans, baking sheet, stock pot, mixing bowls, and cooking utensils. - There are 4 fireplaces in the house; they are decorative only and not for lighting fires. - We do not provide wood for the fire pit in the back yard. You are also responsible for monitoring any fire you build and fully extinguishing it when you are done. History of the House from the Westbrook Historical Society: "This is the John E. Warren House which used to sit at 157 Cumberland St., in the vacant lot across from Elms. It was built in 1882 for S.D. Warren’s nephew, John E. Warren. It is supposedly a twin to The Elms. It is considered one of most sophisticated Queen Anne style houses in Maine. In 1968 it became the home of the Westbrook Senior Citizens, then was sold in 1981 and moved to this Cottage Place spot. It is a fitting setting for such a beautiful home, now privately owned. Cottage Place was laid out by S.D. Warren in 1886. He again hired John Calvin Stevens to design a street of shingle-style workers’ cottages, therefore the name, Cottage Place. Twelve cottages were built along the road, featuring two types of houses: a gambrel roof style and a gable roof style. This was considered ‘planned company housing’. These were all single, mostly shingled style homes. They are now all privately owned." westbrookhistoricalsociety .org /TOURS (9/23/21) Guest access There is a large driveway with room for 10+ cars, if needed. It is a very short drive, or within walking distance based on comfort, to Main St Westbrook for restaurants and breweries. There is a bus stop very close by to connect to Portland, and Uber/Lyft/cabs serve the area. It is less than 2 miles from the nearest I-95 exit. Other things to note We have external security cameras that monitor the front door of the house and the driveway.
