Description
One of two cosy log cabins with countryside and sea views over Mulroy Bay, your own private hot tub, and access to a hot-stone sauna that's for our guests use only. Tucked away between Milford and Carrigart, it’s the perfect romantic escape or peaceful retreat for two. Enjoy nearby beaches, scenic walks, golf at Rosapenna, or unwind beneath the stars in Donegal’s wild beauty. The space Welcome to your own private log cabin hideaway at Davey John’s Forge — a beautifully handcrafted retreat with a bubbling hot tub, views over Mulroy Bay, and everything you need for a peaceful getaway in the Donegal countryside. This cosy timber cabin is ideal for couples or solo travellers seeking space to relax and recharge. Inside, you’ll find a comfortable king size bed, a well-equipped kitchen (with fridge, microwave, kettle, toaster, and nespresso machine), a snug sitting area, and a sparkling clean ensuite bathroom with electric shower, heated towel rail, and complimentary toiletries. The cabin opens onto your private deck with a hot tub, perfectly positioned for taking in the sunrise, sunsets, or a sky full of stars. There’s also a private BBQ area, and just opposite is our exclusive hot-stone sauna, custom fit into a traditional stone building and surrounded by it's own outdoor shower and private patio. Located halfway between Milford and Carrigart, the cabin offers easy access to nearby gems like Marble Hill beach, Dunfanaghy, and Glenveagh National Park. If you’re a golfer, you’re in luck — the world-class Rosapenna Resort, including St. Patrick’s Links, is just down the road. We’ve taken great care to make your stay as relaxing as possible, from the high-quality bed linen to soft throws, fresh towels, fast WiFi, and thoughtful design touches that make the cabin feel like a true retreat. Guest access You’ll have full private use of the cabin, including your own hot tub (available 24/7), outdoor seating area, and parking space just in front. The hot-stone sauna is shared with the other guests on site and is also available 24/7. Other things to note Whilst absolutely ideal for couples, pets and children are welcome at Davey John's too. We do have an inflatable mattress that can be put into your cabin for a third guest but please book knowing that it will need to be put up and taken down during the day to give you a comfortable living space. If you prefer total darkness while you sleep, you’ll find a blackout window cover neatly stored in the drawer under the bed. It attaches easily using the Velcro strips that are around the window frame and can be fitted snugly over the window in just a few seconds. Feel free to pop it up if the morning light comes in earlier than you'd like — and just tuck it back into the drawer when you're finished. Your cabin includes towels and robes for the hot tub and sauna. If you’d like to take a robe or towel home with you, feel free — we just ask for a contribution of €100 per robe and €10 per towel. The hot tub is available for your private use 24/7. The sauna too is available round the clock and is shared with 1 other cabin and the cottage. Ceramic Egg BBQ Use We’re delighted to offer guests access to our ceramic egg BBQ grill — it’s a fantastic way to cook outdoors and really savour the Donegal countryside. These grills are self-cleaning: once you heat them up, any leftover food or grease from a previous use is burned off at high temperatures, turning to fine ash. To prepare the grill, simply: Open the vent at the bottom and lid fully to let airflow in Light the charcoal and allow it to heat up for 10–15 minutes until the flames stop and you have nice hot coals. Use the metal brush provided to gently sweep off any remaining particles on the grill once hot After you’re done cooking, please: Close the lid and let the remaining heat burn off residue Once cooled (24 hours later), take out any loose ash with the small scoop provided and put it into the metal bucket. Our cleaner doesn’t service the BBQ between guests, so we kindly rely on users to leave it ready for the next visitor. Thank you for helping us keep it clean — and we hope you enjoy using it as much as we do! If you have any questions please do get in touch and let us know. We're keen that you enjoy the cabin as much as we do so we'll do everything we can to see that you have a great time.
