Welcome to The Joint—An original Byron Shack restored into a Mediterranean sanctuary. The space A refined, contemporary haven for traveling creatives, the Joint is a touchstone of laid-back Byron living. The original beach shack has been restored sympathetically, retaining some of the original quirks —we wanted to hold onto that unostentatious, come-as-you-are energy that we first fell in love with. As with all our projects, we believe in working with idiosyncrasies to maintain character and create spaces where guests immediately feel at ease in. At the Joint, we held tightly to evocative seaside memories and nostalgic summers gone by. The home features three bedrooms—two queen and one double—each with its own en suite. Distinctly Mediterranean with a subtle Moroccan twist, picturesque archways frame glimpses of the kitchen and olive tree-filled courtyard. Featuring a state-of-the-art French oven and oversized bespoke island, the kitchen truly is the heart of our home, holding space for Jim’s famous slow-cooked lamb and casual drinks with friends. The cabinetry is made from recycled timber that we salvaged ourselves and most of the earthenware was hand thrown by cherished friends—there’s a lot of love in this house. Outside, you’ll find a veggie garden (help yourself!) and a surfboard rack tucked away beside the kitchen overlooking landscaped gardens and the firepit, with an additional oversized courtyard at the entrance of the property. Security-gated and enveloped in meandering bougainvillea vines, this space is completely private and the ample outdoor furnishings provide the perfect spot to read and soak up some sun or entertain friends. Your host, Chelsea, is available to provide insights into lesser-known local haunts including picturesque Hinterland to idyllic beaches, our favourite restaurants and bars, and of course everything practical you need for a seamless and leisurely stay. Seldom will you find this space without laughter, rich aromas drifting from the kitchen, artists creating or loved ones passing by and we hope that your time at Joints is no exception.
