The space PLEASE READ: HOUSE RULES, INFO ABOUT THE SPACE We are happy to open our home to conscientious guests looking for a comfortable place to rest during travel or who are looking for a getaway from the city. Those who enjoy the outdoors and the solitude of nature will (hopefully) find the quaint country scenery that surrounds this fully-furnished, farm-stay apartment relaxing. The large backyard and private deck allow for a peaceful oasis in the country, perfect for coffee sipping or anytime you're looking to slow down the pace of life. Rest assured, during the COVID-19 pandemic, we're doing everything we can in order to provide a sanitary stay. A lot of what we do we did before the pandemic! Our cleaning regimen includes the following: • All bedding and towels are washed with Clorox laundry sanitizer. • All hard, high-touch surfaces (counter tops, door knobs, light switches) are wiped with Clorox wipes and sprayed with Microban spray which provides 24 hour bacteria-killing sanitation. • Per Airbnb's protocol, I've blocked my calendar 24 hours before and after each guest, and I wear a mask while cleaning the unit. • Finally, I steam clean the carpets and the floors regularly. Please remember, the space is not a hotel. While it’s quite humble and nothing fancy, but we think it cozy and hope you will too! Because of COVID-19, and because I clean the unit myself, I ask guests to follow a few simple rules in order to provide the best experience for all while being mindful of social distancing. I don’t charge a cleaning fee. But failure to do these minimal things will result in a $35 cleaning fee or further action. 1. Guests are asked to remove their garbage when checking out, and place trash in garbage canister in the driveway (right next to where you park). 2. Wash any dishes, utensils, cutlery, etc used during your stay and put back where they were found before checking out. Everything you need to wash your dishes is provided, including dish soap towels and drain tray which are under the kitchen sink. Additional rules: 1. For obvious sanitary reasons, PLEASE don't eat or drink in the bed. 2. There is a small, tabletop charcoal grill located on the deck of the unit. We do not supply charcoal, lighter fluid, etc. We ask that guests be mindful to prevent fires and not grill after 10 p.m. nor place the grill directly on the deck. 3. Please don't move any furniture around in the unit. 4. Please don't remove any items from the unit, i.e. tabletop grill, cooking utensils, etc. 5. We do live on the property, but are conscientious of privacy and noise. We expect the same of our guests. The unit is in a very quiet rural area. Therefore, no parties or gatherings allowed. Guests are asked to provide the full name of anyone accompanying them. The area is home to many animals that occasionally make appearances on the property, including: • Several large barred owls. • Many squirrels. • Rabbits. • Hummingbirds. • Red fox. • Skunks. • Coyote. We also have two pet goats, Jack (black and white) and Rosie (white and grey) as well as 10 chickens (fresh eggs? Yes please!) who live on our little farm. And, around dusk and dawn, you can hear lions from nearby Noah's Lost Ark Animal Sanctuary roaring! We are conveniently centrally located from many larger cities and universities: • 20 min to Salem, Alliance (University of Mount Union). • 25 min from Kent (and Kent State). • 35 min from Akron (and Akron University), Canton (and Stark State) and Youngstown (and Youngstown State). • One hour from the outskirts of Cleveland. And yet, we're off the beaten path, on the road less traveled ... where things slow down. Guest access Access to full apartment with private entrance and private parking on premises. The unit is self check-in with a lock box and key code. Other things to note Guests: I have a little prize for those who correctly identify the pop culture reference on our keychain for the unit. :) We have dogs, goats and chickens on the premises. No animals are ever within the apartment, so those with allergies, rest assured. Currently the apartment includes a recliner, table and four chairs, new television, queen bed, full size air mattress and brand new appliances (December 2019). Fully stocked kitchen includes all dinnerware, flatware, and glassware plus pots/pans. However, please note there is NO OVEN in the unit. There also is no air conditioning. A box fan is provided for guests.
