It's got two AC/heat units, a full kitchen with all the basic pots, pans, dishes, and utensils, plus a regular drip coffee maker and a French press (we provide coffee). There's plenty of hot water and a full bathroom. The upstairs bedroom is in an open loft, no full walls enclosing it, and the ceiling is lower than standard, so make sure everyone in your group is okay with that before booking. Outside you've got a fire pit and charcoal grill. The place gives you tons of open space and privacy but is only about a minute from the main paved road. Terlingua Ghost Town and the Big Bend National Park entrance are under 10 minutes away. We have several other rentals within walking distance. If you're bringing a bigger group, just message us about booking multiple properties. The house sits on a short, well-packed dirt/gravel road less than a quarter mile off the pavement. Normal cars handle it fine most of the time, but after heavy rain the clay around here gets slick, so take it slow everywhere in the area. We're on grid power with a private well. We just added an automatic backup generator that kicks on during outages and runs the whole house. Just please don't run the washer or dryer while it's on generator power, as that can overload things. Bring your own drinking water or plan to boil the well water. This is a quiet neighborhood, so keep noise down, especially at night. Please make sure your guest count is accurate when booking. The base rate covers up to 2 guests. For any additional guests (using the loft), an extra guest fee will automatically be added at booking. This fee helps cover the extra housekeeping time for cleaning the loft area and handling additional laundry. Pets are allowed with a pet fee, but no pets upstairs in the loft, no pets on furniture or beds, pick up after them outside, crate them if you plant to leave them unattended and they are prone to accidents or damaging items, keep them leashed, and watch out for coyotes. Guest access When you rent this house you will have the whole house and the front yard (which is an entire airstrip) to yourself. Other things to note -For safety and comfort during your visit, we recommend carrying a flashlight when walking around the property at night, as outdoor lighting is limited. Please bring plenty of drinking water for your group, especially if you plan to spend time outdoors or exploring the area. -Important Vehicle Preparedness for Desert Driving: The surrounding roads and desert terrain can have sharp rocks, thorns, and debris that increase the risk of flat tires. For your safety, we strongly recommend bringing a properly inflated spare tire, along with the necessary tools to change a tire (jack, lug wrench, and any vehicle-specific adapters). Cell service can be spotty, so being self-sufficient is key. -Guests are welcome to use the fire pit and grill. Firewood and charcoal are not provided—please purchase these locally during your stay. We provide a starter supply of coffee (grounds and/or pods), bathroom essentials including shampoo, conditioner, and body wash, as well as household basics such as paper towels and toilet paper, plus kitchen staples like basic spices and cooking oil. These items are offered as a convenience, but we suggest bringing any personal favorites or additional quantities for longer stays.
