Please do not leave any scented items in your vehicle. The cabin is equipped with an electric bear fence that should be armed whenever you leave for the day to explore Tahoe or head to the beach. Other things to note Getting Here & Local Tips If you’re arriving from Hwy 80, we recommend stopping for groceries in Tahoe City before heading to the cabin. If you’re coming from Hwy 50, South Lake Tahoe has several major grocery stores as well. Tahoma Market, located about 10 minutes north toward Tahoe City, is a great small local market with excellent sandwiches and essentials. During winter months, Hwy 89 south toward South Lake Tahoe is often subject to closures due to snow conditions, so many guests find Hwy 80 to be the more reliable route. Please be sure to check road and weather conditions before traveling via Caltrans. If you plan to arrive after dark, we recommend bringing a flashlight to help locate and use the combination lock at check-in.
